Allen Homestead Fund
On June 23rd, my father Jon Allen was mowing the grass in a field far from the house. As he turned the mower to go another direction, he saw smoke where the house was. He called 911 and was able to get into part of the house and get a few things-- a few photos, important papers, and Sarah's Wedding dress. (Sarah, youngest Allen daughter, is due to get married July 3rd).
It was only a few minutes and the house was engulfed. By the time the firefighters got there, all they could do was keep the surrounding areas from catching fire. The home and everything in it is gone. It was a total loss.
We all loved the family home. My parents lived there for 27 years. It was the center of all holiday happenings for our family. It was the home we grew up in. We know it's all just "stuff" but you can't live without necessities. We will always have the memories from this special place. Money cannot replace so many sentimental items, but any financial gift helps.
We are believing God will use this for his glory, and show us his purpose in all of this. Please continue to lift up my parents and family in your prayers.
Announcement #1: All Arson charges were dropped due to no evidence. None. After two years of dealing with the false charge, finally my parents are getting on with their life.
Announcement #2: Insurance has settled. They are getting most of the money the house was insured for. It takes moments where you lose everything to realize you didn't have enough insurance coverage. They have worked with an architect and have drawn up plans for a new home. Please continue to pray for them as they make decisions about their home. Pray the process moves smoothly and swiftly. We would love to celebrate the holidays in their new home and I would really love to see them start 2018 with fresh roots and relaxed and revived spirits!
Please pray for their finances. Mom was planning to retire in April on her birthday but they have paid more than 50,000 in attorney and legal fees, so retirement has been put off a bit longer. Please pray financial blessings over them. The home that burned had zero mortgage and we are praying their new home will have a zero mortgage as well. They are still paying a hefty rent every month on their rent home-- please pray that insurance will reimburse them for this cost. As of now, it doesn't look like they will.
I'm also still praying for a miracle- that the crooked detective will not be able to do this to another family.
Lastly, and most importantly, THANK YOU ! Thank you for praying, for financial support, hugs and encouragement, and donations. My parents and our family is so grateful for the love and friendship we have to support us!
First of all, don't believe everything you hear. He surrendered himself yesterday at the jail-- Not because he was guilty, but because he didn't want to make a scene. He is an honorable man of integrity who (when his attorney notified him of a warrant) stepped up and went to be booked into the jail. He did not commit arson, even though that is what they booked him on. He went with cash/bail money in hand.
Secondly, from the day of the fire, a certain detective (on his first ever investigation) accused Dad of starting the fire...
The day of the fire, my parents had an alarm on their house that notified the local emergency services, fire department and police. He called 911 and they had already been dispatched. He ran into the far side of the house to grab a few things. He saved my sisters wedding dress, a few photos and personal items, and the rest was gone.
Anyone who knows my father--has been a part of a family dinner on our farm, or heard a message in my dad's congregation (even though he is now retired), or personally have had contact with my dad in any way-- knows he did not do this. This whole situation is absurd, unbelievable, and absolutely certifiably wrong. To lose all your earthly possessions in a fire, 9 days before your daughters wedding, is bad enough!
This is absolutely injustice. My family has been a supporter of law enforcement for years. My Aunt Carol (my dad's sister) is a retired Sergeant from LAPD. My dad has ZERO criminal history.
To add insult to injury, the insurance company has been forced to hold payment due to the investigation. Yes, my parents haven't received a dime of money from them. I feel like my parents are being held hostage and tortured.
I finally told my kids today what was going on(even though we've been praying for months). Tobin's words exactly were "WHAT? Papa would never do that to us. Nonnie made that house amazing and we all loved it there. He Loves Christ! Are these people crazy?!" That pretty much sums up all of our thoughts- a 9 year old even knows and sees the truth!
I leave with this, There is absolutely zero evidence of his guilt. There is NO question in our mind that Dad is innocent.
Please continue to pray for my parents. They have been an amazing example through this storm-- never questioned God, stayed strong through their marriage and loved each other through it all, and fervently prayed for the people doing the investigation.
What can YOU DO? PLEASE PRAY! I believe in the power of prayer. I believe in Justice. (If you feel led to give, any amount is appreciated. They emptied their bank accounts last night to pay his $5000 bond. ) Especially pray for my Mom. This hurts her so badly, she knows her husband is innocent and sees him being attacked. It's so hard for her. Pray for peace in her heart. Thanks so much for your support and prayers! ~ Rachel Allen Cobb
I want to thank you for your donations. Insurance money has been put on hold until the county finishes with the investigation. Please pray that this can be over and done with soon, so the rebuilding progress can begin. The gofund-me money and your generous donations have come at the Lord's perfect timing. Please continue to pray for my parents. Every day is a new emotional journey for them. As the seasons change, they will continue to have new wounds, and need new things. Thank you for your continued prayer and support! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts, for all the LOVE! ~Rachel
