Funds to rebuild the home of Jon and Diane Allen...

On June 23rd, my father Jon Allen was mowing the grass in a field far from the house. As he turned the mower to go another direction, he saw smoke where the house was. He called 911 and was able to get into part of the house and get a few things-- a few photos, important papers, and Sarah's Wedding dress. (Sarah, youngest Allen daughter, is due to get married July 3rd).

It was only a few minutes and the house was engulfed. By the time the firefighters got there, all they could do was keep the surrounding areas from catching fire.   The home and everything in it is gone.  It was a total loss.

We all loved the family home. My parents lived there for 27 years. It was the center of all holiday happenings for our family. It was the home we grew up in. We know it's all just "stuff" but you can't live without necessities.  We will always have the memories from this special place. Money cannot replace  so many sentimental items, but any financial gift helps.

We are believing God will use this for his glory, and show us his purpose in all of this. Please continue to lift up my parents and family in your prayers.

Some of you may have seen/heard of Dad's arrest on the News, or in the paper. I am writing this post to inform everyone of the facts.

First of all, don't believe everything you hear. He surrendered himself yesterday at the jail-- Not because he was guilty, but because he didn't want to make a scene. He is an honorable man of integrity who (when his attorney notified him of a warrant) stepped up and went to be booked into the jail. He did not commit arson, even though that is what they booked him on. He went with cash/bail money in hand.

Secondly, from the day of the fire, a certain detective (on his first ever investigation) accused Dad of starting the fire...

The day of the fire, my parents had an alarm on their house that notified the local emergency services, fire department and police. He called 911 and they had already been dispatched. He ran into the far side of the house to grab a few things. He saved my sisters wedding dress, a few photos and personal items, and the rest was gone.

Anyone who knows my father--has been a part of a family dinner on our farm, or heard a message in my dad's congregation (even though he is now retired), or personally have had contact with my dad in any way-- knows he did not do this. This whole situation is absurd, unbelievable, and absolutely certifiably wrong. To lose all your earthly possessions in a fire, 9 days before your daughters wedding, is bad enough!

This is absolutely injustice. My family has been a supporter of law enforcement for years. My Aunt Carol (my dad's sister) is a retired Sergeant from LAPD. My dad has ZERO criminal history.

To add insult to injury, the insurance company has been forced to hold payment due to the investigation. Yes, my parents haven't received a dime of money from them. I feel like my parents are being held hostage and tortured.

I finally told my kids today what was going on(even though we've been praying for months). Tobin's words exactly were "WHAT? Papa would never do that to us. Nonnie made that house amazing and we all loved it there. He Loves Christ! Are these people crazy?!" That pretty much sums up all of our thoughts- a 9 year old even knows and sees the truth!

I leave with this, There is absolutely zero evidence of his guilt. There is NO question in our mind that Dad is innocent.

Please continue to pray for my parents. They have been an amazing example through this storm-- never questioned God, stayed strong through their marriage and loved each other through it all, and fervently prayed for the people doing the investigation.

What can YOU DO? PLEASE PRAY! I believe in the power of prayer. I believe in Justice. (If you feel led to give, any amount is appreciated. They emptied their bank accounts last night to pay his $5000 bond. ) Especially pray for my Mom. This hurts her so badly, she knows her husband is innocent and sees him being attacked. It's so hard for her. Pray for peace in her heart. Thanks so much for your support and prayers! ~ Rachel Allen Cobb

It's almost been 9 months since my parents home burned to the ground. They visited us this past weekend and we had a wonderful visit. They are doing okay but still need so much prayer! They still haven't received a dime from insurance. The investigation in the county is still ongoing, which is just absurd! Please be praying for them as they wait at the hands of those who don't seem to be in any hurry. My parents are in desperate need of some closure, clearing of the property, and a new start. They are ready to begin their new lives yet, are living day to day not being able to plan anything due to the unforeseen future. Please pray for the County as they finish up the investigation, the insurance company as they make (hopefully final) decisions, and my parents as they are still in a tiny rent home, with no sight of what the future holds. I know many of you are prayer warriors and we are fighting this spiritual battle right now! Thanks for all the support. The battle hasn't been won, but we know that HE holds the key to our futures and we are trusting him with his timing and purpose. Thanks friends! ~Rachel

Hello everyone! I just wanted to send a quick update. Mom and dad moved into their new temporary (long term) home. It's about a mile from the original homestead. It's a (little) guest home on a ranch on the mountain that will be perfect for them and even have a little room for the grandkids to visit. It's furnished with major furniture, but they've had to buy a lot of start-over items like linens and pots and pans, etc. Mom is a frugal thrifter, so she has shopped goodwill and thrift stores and found some super cheap fun things to make it homey. They had Collin, Serina and their 3 beautiful kids over last weekend for a meal. Mom has already used photos left over from the weddings and put them around to make it feel warmer. She is talented with her touch to make anything feel like home. She is a natural hostess too!

I want to thank you for your donations. Insurance money has been put on hold until the county finishes with the investigation. Please pray that this can be over and done with soon, so the rebuilding progress can begin. The gofund-me money and your generous donations have come at the Lord's perfect timing. Please continue to pray for my parents. Every day is a new emotional journey for them. As the seasons change, they will continue to have new wounds, and need new things. Thank you for your continued prayer and support! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts, for all the LOVE! ~Rachel

Mom and Dad have been living in a hotel for a month. They are doing pretty good, considering. They are emotionally drained, but hopeful for the future. They are so encouraged by everyone's generosity. It really does lift their spirits when people love on them. They have decided to rebuild on the original homestead site. Within the next couple of weeks, site preparation will begin-- including bulldozing everything, even the original foundation. Nothing from the original site will be able to be used in the new home.

Within the next week, they will move to a little guest home they are renting on the top of the mountain, less than a mile from the homestead site. It is tiny, but will meet their needs for the short-term. They will need to buy towels and pots & pans, etc. to outfit the rental home. Please pray for them as they begin to "start over". Little decisions like that aren't as easy to make as you think it would be.

Thank you so much for the support, prayers, and financial gifts. We all feel so loved. They are blown away with by your kindess. I'll update again soon!
