Walls For Good

Tax deductible
BIGGER THAN THE BORDER WALL

Join former president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, and others in helping us build walls that bring people in, not keep people out.

While we endlessly debate the need for walls between the U.S. and Mexico—there are millions of people who go without the walls needed for basic shelter.

In the U.S. alone, it is estimated between 1.6 and 3.5 million people suffer from homelessness. The numbers in Mexico are even more astounding, with roughly 10% of the population living in extreme poverty.

Members of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, genders, and even socio-economic backgrounds make up these staggering numbers. The factors that originally forced these people from their homes vary just as greatly.

It’s time we put our differences aside and come together for a cause that knows no borders. It’s time we build Walls for Good.

BUILDING WALLS THAT BUILD LIVES

That’s where you come in.

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) has partnered with Centro Fox to launch “Walls for Good”—a cross-cultural campaign that funds shelters and tiny homes on BOTH sides of the U.S./Mexico border. Your donation will help LIHI build walls that bring people in, not keep people out.

Why tiny homes?

• Tiny homes are financially efficient, costing as little as $2,500 for building materials.

• They’re easy to build. A group of volunteers and students can build one in a weekend.

• Tiny houses provide electricity, heat, light, and a locking door.

•  Each home starts at about 100 square feet, and can serve single adults, couples, or small families with nowhere else to go.

•  Tiny Houses can be placed in villages of several dozen homes or in small, underutilized urban spaces.

Most importantly, a tiny home provides a sense of security and stability for people desperate for a break. So, while your donation will help LIHI build some walls—you’ll also be helping them build lives.

OUR GOAL

In the month of November, our goal is to raise 300,000 dollars for shelters and services in both the U.S. and Mexico. Contributions to the Walls for Good campaign will be shared equally between the Low Income Housing Institute of Seattle and Centro Fox.

At the same time, we want to send a message of goodwill amidst a storm of near constant international debate. As tensions between the U.S. and Mexico rise over a proposed border wall, we want to remind the world that nothing can stop you from helping your fellow brothers and sisters in need, regardless of location. Because the only barriers that truly exist are the ones we allow our minds to accept.
