Help Blitz. Vet $. Legs won't move

Donation protected

Blitz is a rescue dog I adopted from German Shepherd Rescue of OC. He was abandoned to the streets by his previous owner. Because of the kindness of the rescue, he has another chance at life. He had damaged teeth from chewing on rocks on the streets and the rescue helped him with dental surgery that resulted in 55 stitches. He lost a few canines. He was severely underweight when I adopted him. I've had him for 3+ years now. He is a loving and social dog, a gentle giant. He is great with other animals and people, very well socialized and obedient.

Last year he was diagnosed with lower back arthritis when he started walking stiffly and displayed limited movement when he walked.

I've tried laser therapy and acupuncture. The vet says the condition is degenerative and the only thing I can do is try to slow it down. He has been taking Rimadyl (expensive anti-inflammatory) for a year now and glucosamine supplements. A couple of weeks ago his back 2 legs stopped working. Now he needs assistance to walk and go to the bathroom. He also is dragging his legs around and scraping up his skin. I'm looking for support groups and more information on any more treatment options for Blitz and info on how to care for a handicapped dog. Vet costs are expensive. A wheelchair for him is also very expensive. I am trying some more treatment options in hopes of a miracle. Trying acupuncture and steroid shots as well as some holistic treatment plans. If anyone can help Blitz in any way possible, we are very grateful for your kindness.

Page I dedicated to Blitz to share things I learned about dog health, nutrition and care
