Encontro Internacional de Coros Universitários® (EICU®)

É com imensa honra que o Coro Misto da Universidade de Coimbra (CMUC) tem o privilégio de promover a XIV edição do Encontro Internacional de Coros Universitários® , em Coimbra. Trata-se de manter viva a organização do maior e mais expressivo evento do género em Portugal, cuja génese remonta a 1986.

Contudo, o CMUC necessita de uma enorme ajuda financeira para conseguir concretizar este tipo de iniciativas que são história do Coro e que não podem ficar esquecidas de forma alguma.

Coro Misto da Universidade de Coimbra
O CMUC foi fundado em 1956 e é um dos sete organismos autónomos da Associação Académica de Coimbra. Trata-se do coro misto, em actividade, mais antigo da academia e teve como primeiro director artístico o Prof. Raposo Marques, sendo também de destacar o trabalho dos Maestros Adelino Martins e César Nogueira, que dedicaram, respectivamente, 25 e 12 anos ao CMUC.

Actualmente, o coro canta com cerca de 30 elementos, estudantes nas diversas Faculdades e Institutos Superiores da cidade.

Apresenta um repertório diversificado que abrange diversos períodos artísticos, desde o Renascimento até aos nossos dias, prestando também uma atenção especial a compositores portugueses e à tradição coral portuguesa. Para trabalhar este repertório, o Coro conta desde 2008 com o profissionalismo e dedicação do Maestro Rodrigo Carvalho.

Desde a sua fundação, o coro actuou já em todo o País e também um pouco por toda a Europa. Participou em vários festivais e encontros corais em Portugal e no estrangeiro, a maioria dos quais enquadrados no contexto universitário, e é frequentemente convidado para participar em cerimónias oficiais da Universidade de Coimbra e da Câmara Municipal de Coimbra.

Internacional Meeting of University Choirs

It is with great honour that the Mixed Choir of the University of Coimbra (CMUC) has the privilege of promoting the XIV edition of the International Meeting of University Choirs, in Coimbra. By doing so, CMUC thrives to keep alive the organization of the largest and most expressive event of its kind in Portugal, an event that was born in 1986.

However, CMUC needs a lot of financial assistance in order to carry out these types of initiatives that are essential to preserving the Choir’s history and so must not be forgotten.

Coro Misto da Universidade de Coimbra
(Mixed Choir of the University of Coimbra)

CMUC was founded in 1956 and is one of the seven autonomous bodies of Coimbra’s Academic Student Association. It is the oldest operating mixed choir in the Academy. Its first artistic director was Prof. Raposo Marques, but the work of the Conductors Adelino Martins and César Nogueira are due mentioning since they gave CMUC 25 and 12 years of dedication, respectively.

Nowadays the choir has around 30 elements and includes students from several of the University’s Faculties and of other Higher Education Institutes in the city.

It presents a diverse repertoire that combines many artistic periods, from the Renaissance to current days, but always paying special attention to Portuguese composers and Portuguese choral tradition. To work this entire repertoire, CMUC has counted on the professionalism and dedication of its present artistic director and conductor Rodrigo Carvalho since 2008.

Since its foundation, our choir has performed all over the country but also a bit all over Europe. It has participated in many festivals and choir meetings in Portugal and abroad, most of which were in Academic contexts and it is often asked to take part in official ceremonies of the University and the City Hall.
