Hello from the hills of Portugal,

We have found ourselves in an incredible place with a beautiful old house on the hill to hunker down in over the winter. After spending months on the road it will be nice to slow down for a while and get back to writing lots of music. We came here to volunteer on a permaculture project, but the more time we have spent here, the longer we want to stay. Our home needs a lot of work, we have been busy painting, scrubbing and digging up the veggie patch and it is already taking shape. This will be a space for us and our friends to focus on our respective passions and artistic pursuits with a few rooms to be used as purely artistic spaces, including our new studio!

The studio is an internal room with rendered xist stone walls, wooden floors and some horrible fluorescent lighting. We are going to smash the render from the walls, exposing the xist, which has a varied surface, making it very good for absorbing sound. There is a tiny room across the hall that we will use for isolated recording. We are going to rip out the fluorescent lighting and paint the ceiling, then replace the lighting with something warmer. A few square metres of local cork audio insulation will be used for the back of the door and to cover a small window nook. We will then build a custom table for the space, lay a carpet and it will be ready for studio gear, thats where you come in!
