The Lebanese Rugby League Federation’s statutory objectives are to foster, develop, extend, govern and administer the sport of rugby league throughout Lebanon. Its rapid growth since 2002 has impelled the extension of that remit to the MEA region. Lebanese rugby league is much more than just a sport...it's a powerful social vehicle that has had a positive impact on the life and attitudes of Lebanese civilians.
The aim of the LRLF Strategy is to position the sport as a key contributor to building a strong community and shaping its core values of youth, respect, ownership, culture, leadership; where members model the behaviors, co-operating and collaborating to ensure the sustainability of resources, fun, and an inclusive culture which embraces cultural diversity i.e. “Rugby League… It’s my Game!!!”
To be more specific, Lebanese rugby league (established in Lebanon in 2002) will strive to position itself behind traditional powers Australia (1908), Great Britain (1895), New Zealand (1907) and France (1934) as the recognized fifth strongest rugby league-playing nation at the completion of the World Cup 2017.
The vision and mission will be achieved by ensuring that the LRLF has the necessary capacity to deliver high quality playing and participation opportunities, increasing support to the sport, and engaging with communities, businesses, schools, institutions and other partners to provide sustainable access to playing and non-playing participation opportunities.
Lebanon: to produce this environment, the LRLF must continue to embrace and cultivate its traditional, fruitful ties to educational institutions, with the objective of creating an increasingly more meaningful rugby league community that transcends schools, universities, clubs, players, fans and officials in a collaboration that will see the sport’s values and inherent characteristics impact Lebanese civil society in an increasingly benevolent and far-reaching manner.
Funds donated will be used to:
- Educate local coaches and supply them to schools and new teams, to satisfy increasing demand, which so far outstrips our capacity to supply
- Introduce RL into surrounding Tripoli’s conflict area
- Hold Educational training camps for new schools and students
- Begin development in the south of Lebanon to establish a similar pathway to Beirut Area and North Lebanon where players in the schools system will move on to the University Championship and be linked up in a community program with the clubs
- supply much needed equipement i.e (balls, playing aparell)
