To see my son

I have recently discovered thru my own investigation that my ex wife has lied to me on a very deep level pertaining our divorce and my parental rights as a dad. I have attempted to talk civilly with my ex wife in hopes that she would come to terms about the well being of our child. My intention is NOT take him from her... simply to have visitation with him. I have spoken to a lawyer and he is willing to help me with my case which will be in Vt and I must travel to my court hearings I'm sure several times. My lawyer also has requested a retaining fee of 2500 dollars for his services... some may see this as a lot of money and it is. But my son is more then worth it. Please I'm asking for help to be able to be apart of my sons life that has been stolen from me for the past 4 - 5 years.
