Aaron's Playground

When Nir and I were dating, we always wanted to move to Florida. I will tell you how our son Aaron brought us there.
As many of you may know our son, Aaron was born with a rare chromosome abnormality - Trisomy 9 and Partial Trisomy 5.  All we heard were the words "you can't take care of your son, he needs more than what you can handle." These spoken words are something that should never be heard by any parent at a time that is supposed to be pure joy.
We watched our son grow at a skilled level nursing home in a building located downtown Manhattan for 2 years. For those years Aaron resided there, he spent most of his time indoors not being able to go outside because of the cold weather and lack of out of facility field trips. Aaron's school was even located inside the facility where he lived. This was Aaron's way of life until the facility told us they were loosing their lease and were relocating several hours away from our Staten Island home. Faced with another crucial decision for our entire family, Nir and I thought that it was time Aaron begin to enjoy life in a sunny warm climate and we would follow with him. And this is exactly what he did!
Not even two days after his transfer to Florida, Aaron was outside in his wheelchair by the lake of his new facility feeling the fresh air blowing in his face he so deserved to feel. Aaron enjoyed going to the beach, to the park, he even went bowling! Aaron participated in holiday parades, went to the zoo and was even able to pet animals. Aaron went to water parks, shopping in malls and supermarkets. Aaron also went on a bus to an amazing school that served only children with disabilities.
Today, we have grieved the loss of skills, dreams, abilities, hope, milestones, rights of passage, experiences, and the future.
We need your hugs, your prayers, your understanding.  We need you to understand we are mourning and grieving the loss of an amazing, phenomenal, special child who was too good for this world.  Today we need you to ask us about him and help us remember and honor Aaron. We want you to notice his absence, even if you didn't know him and his larger-than-life spirit. Aaron has changed our lives and we want his existence to change the lives all children.
We are asking you to please contribute and help us as we keep Aaron's memory alive in building a playground in honor of his name "Aaron's Playground" because there are so many children who deserve to feel that breeze hit their tiny faces.

In the early morning hours of November 20, HaShem whispered to our son Aaron that he had fulfilled his mission and purpose in our life with grace, with commitment, with willpower, with strength and with success. It was time for Aaron to return with HaShem as he was done serving his family here.
HaShem had a world of plans for you far beyond what we could ever understand.
You our angel are the most powerful, the most inspirational, the most motivating and the most positive experience we have ever had in our life. Aaron you showed us how to live our life, you guided us through rough times, you taught us to be brave and strong.
Aaron you were never a challenge for us only our blessing in disguise. Ema and Aba are proud that we were chosen by HaShem to help you grow. You have brought us so much joy - more than you will ever know. Your an angel who has taught us many things but most of all real love
When it was time to say goodbye we held on to so tight. Goodnight. Sweet Dreams our Aaron. Until we are together again.

Aaron, Our special son
