Help us Preserve Beach Haven!

We need our voices heard, and we have asked our elected representatives to do what is best to preserve the Beach Haven we know and love.

Despite a petition distributed by EngageBeachHaven with 300+ signatures, and many pleas by residents to slow down, or stop the development indefinitely the process continues with out a pause, or even a reasonable reaction from our elected representatives.

There can be no more decisions made about this beloved town without the consideration of those who know and love it most. However, we are going to need swift action and legal representation to get this done.  Will you contribute to making sure Beach Haven’s best interests are the top priority?  Please read on to find out what has been going on and how you can be a part of this amazing effort!

Real estate development in our town is at a pitched level.  The new Master Plan of Beach Haven has clearly defined significant changes for the future development of Beach Haven.  Over the past year, we have watched our elected representatives and the appointed Land Use Board make decisions that we believe are leading our town in a direction that is unlike what we love, Beach Haven.

The starting point of the increased pace of development was our elected representatives classifying the entire Boulevard, between 13th Street and Pearl Street, as an "Area in Need of Rehabilitation" this past year.  The brick bank building at 6th and the Boulevard was classified as a Rehabilitation Area in March of 2018 and a Redevelopment Plan was approved in May 2018.  This project is now called "Victoria Rose."

Generally speaking, this classification provides exorbitant and unprecedented zoning relief to the developer, maximizing the return on his investment.

The result of this redevelopment approval for Victoria Rose is a three-story structure that exceeds the previously allowable height limit, maximum lot coverage, setbacks, and density.  The rooftop also includes elevator access, a pool, bathrooms, a fire pit, a barbecue, a wet bar, and pergolas.  The developer also receives tax abatement from the Borough.

It is important to understand that the Victoria Rose development is the first on a list of projects that will change the face of our town forever.

The funds we are raising will be used solely for legal expenses to appeal the Redevelopment Plan and the designation as an Area of Rehabilitation.

The anticipated legal fees are $5,000 to file the appeal.  And then, if the Council and developer are unwilling to compromise, an additional estimated $5,000 in legal fees to bring the appeal to fruition will be needed.

In making a donation we commit that we will share a bi-weekly update with you, along with copies of any paid invoices.  We are thinking there are 100-concerned residents who are willing and able to donate $100.  With this said, ANY size donation is welcome.

If any of the funds raised goes unused, for any reason, you will receive a portion of your donation back.  ( a portion equal to the % of funds that are not used for legal fees).

Thank you for your consideration and please forward this GoFundMe campaign to anyone you believe will be interested in this cause.
