Backpacks for West Virginia

Tax deductible
At the end of June, many communities in West Virginia were devastated by floods. Thousand of families lost everything. About 25 schools sustained damage, and as communities begin the long process of rebuilding, it is just a few short weeks before students will be going  back to school in August.

Challenge Preparatory Charter Schools in Far Rockaway, New York have pledged to provide and fill 500 backpacks with school supplies for students in West Virginia. We estimate that each pack and the needed supplies will cost around $25 each, so we are raising $13,000 for backpacks for students at the following schools:

Clendenin Elementary School
Bridge Elementary School

Nancy Foley, Kids Disaster Relief Coordinator and Julie Barnhart-Cable, Diaster Relief Coordinator are coordinating the effort locally for Challenge Charter Schools and HCWC, Inc. (Healthy Connections Wellness Center).

Now we can all give a little hope to the good people of West Virginia. Providing these backpacks means one less thing for each West Virginia family to worry about. Let's come together to help in this small way - no donation is too small!

We have a just over a month to fill these packs before school begins!

Thank you for giving whatever you can to help a child get back to school with a full backpack in August.

Please share our campaign and give as generously as you can. Stay up to date on Challenge Prep's efforts to help with the WV Flood victims on Facebook.
