WV Teachers STRIKE Fund

TEACHERS and SCHOOL SERVICE PERSONNEL WON!!

The strike is over, but the work is not.  The strike fund has been a huge success, directly supprting more than 500 teachers and school service personnel (and counting!).  We have been proud to support them as they organize, provide food and child care for their communities, cover emergencies, and make up for lost pay from the strike (for substitutes, aides, and other part-time employees).

But right now... we simply have more applications than we have funds, and we have had to close down the application process.  Please contribute if you can, so that we can meet every request.

Read below for more information about the fund, and how you can donate and support the strike...

The WV Teachers Strike Support Fund is a public fund, started by a few West Virginians, to help support teachers and school service personnel who are taking on great personal cost to organize and support their families during the strike, and beyond. This fund is proud to be associated with RiseUp WV, a grassroots citizens organization based in Charleston, West Virginia.

Guidelines of the Fund
1. Every cent we raise will go to support teachers and school service personnel. We will not keep any overhead.
2. Donations are not tax-deductible.
3. To apply for funding, teachers and school service personnel can fill out the attached form. We promise to respond to your request by e-mail within 1 week (and funding would come afterwards). Applications will be judged based on the urgency of the need, how specific the request is, and how directly the request is connected to the strike. The suggested max request is $500 (other amounts will be considered). We apologize in advance that we are not able to fund every request.
4. If we raise enough to fund every worthy request and have funds left over, we will of course re-open the strike fund application process.
5. We will verify that only teachers and school service personnel receive funds, and that need is documented.
