Venice Challenger Baseball Stadium
Venice Challenger Baseball allows EVERY player to bat and play in the field EVERY inning. Siblings, friends and many local organizations, such as Venice High School sports teams & service clubs serve as "Buddies".
Other "Buddy "Teams that have participated are the Venice Police and Fire Departments, Gilbane Construction, our local Walmart store and many more local businesses and organizations. "Buddies" help players when they bat, run the bases, play in the field and push wheelchairs. The entire family and the community gets involved. Best of all, it's FREE to play and ALL ARE WELCOME!
Venice Challenger Baseball (VCB) has been life-changing for players and volunteers in so many ways. One such player is "Andy" (cover photo), who had never spoken a word in his life. He has been a regular Challenger participant for the past 11 years. He spoke his first words during his 4th season of play, and they were "Coach Carroll" and"Baseball". Now, "Andy" can be observed helping other Challenger players, talking to everyone and even snapping a few photos with the girls (see photos posted below). VCB helped "Andy" find his voice and become a leader amongst other players. It has been nothing short of a miracle for him!
What would a Saturday evening Challenger Baseball Game be without "Joe"? He and his wife live in an Assisted Living Facility in Venice. He enjoys bowling, basketball and baseball. He makes sure everyone is having fun - his laugh and smile are contagious. "Joe" is the life of the party - on and off the field.
As the VCB Program grows - so do its needs. Plans are in place to build a dedicated stadium featuring two fields: a firm, rubberized field that can accomodate the special mobility needs and one traditional field that will be accessible for all other players.
To make this "Field of Dreams" a reality, the VCB league is in need of YOUR financial support to raise $1.4 million dollars to help those who "dream to play, but can't - in the usual Little League way".
Thank You For Your Support!
