A Writers' Dream to end stigma
I've always been a writer. Here's my chance to attend workshops and improve my writing. I am writing a collection of short stories about people with mental illness. I'm writing from the view of people and not like a lecture or the PDR. I'm hoping to offer hope in my stories and help others to understand what it's like to live with mental illness.
I am a disabled writer and there is a Rutgers University Writers' Conference I am hoping to attend come June 3rd & 4th, 2017. Please consider donating to this cause. This conference would offer me an opportunity to improve as a writer and to meet with publishers and agents.
I am currently writing a collection of short stories where the central characters have a mental illness. I am hoping by having these stories published I will be able to bring a voice that will help to end the stigma connected with mental illness and help others who know someone or are just curious to understand what it means to live with a mental illness like BiPolar or depression or anxiety.
I feel that the mentally ill are not represented properly in the media and society as a whole. I hope to network and learn from this conference how I can get my work published and how to be a more accomplished writer.
Just to have the opportunity to network with those in the literary community, would open up opportunities I could not obtain on my own. It would mean the world to me to have my work published and to help others understand what it means to have a mental illness and to give hope to those who live with these illnesses each day.
Thank you for considering my cause and thank you to those who contribute.
