AMERICAN Veterans Post
Veterans AMVETS POST 81, 1910 N Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers, Florida will be looking for help with donations to build a new building. AMVETS Mission Statement: To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.
We expect to double in size by the year 2021. Our Veterans Roster is always flexible as members come and go but presently it is 462, but expected to double by 2021. We give donations now for request in writing for help to various cancer projects, St Jude Foundation, “Paws for the Cause”, North Fort Myers “Pop Warner”, Honor Flights, Blood Bank, Local Community needs and many other requests throughout the year.
We give back to those in need. But we are in need now.
We are presently under contract to install the sewer. The sewer is a replacement for the 1970's septic system that was designed for a convenient store. We moved into this building in 1984 and paid the 1st mortgage off and bought a lot next door and paid that mortgage off in 2016.
We have saved funds to pay for the replacement of the sewer from donations from cooking meals, from “Special” projects, from members and from years of not spending frivolously. Many of the AMVETS POST 81 members donate 1000’s of hours yearly back to the community as volunteer work and money.
As we move forward into the future, AMVETS POST 81 membership has grown and we are outgrowing our present building. We will continue to save and cut corners to build up funds, but our Veteran membership and families are being squeezed to the limit. We are here to ask for help with our project to build a new building on the existing open lot.
A larger size building will allow our organization to grow and accommodate our current membership as well as new and younger Veterans in need. We also have Sons of the AMVETS, Ladies Auxiliary and AMVETS Riders too.
AMVETS POST 81 will give Iraq, Afghanistan and Persian Gulf War Veterans somewhere to go to feel amongst those that have had the same experiences, as did WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans. Our goal is to also provide Veteran’s families an opportunity to have a local Veterans Post for their needs and for their loved ones.
All donations are not tax deductible but are greatly appreciated. You will have the knowledge of knowing that a new steel building will be constructed using local contractors with local workers. All the subcontractors will be local and provide employment to local residents. Every Veteran will benefit from your donation as we will help all Veterans somehow that show up at our Door.
