ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

We are excited to announce West Virginia’s World War II living history weekend Saturday, May 4, in Fayetteville, West Virginia. History will come to life with authentic recreations of Allied and Axis army encampments. This event is dedicated to bringing history to life and committed to historical accuracy to educate future generations. This event allows us to relive the stories of our veterans, as we preserve the history of the greatest generation. Veterans and living history enthusiasts from all over the state will be represented.

*We will not in any way be affiliated with radical organizations (ie American Nazi Party, KKK, Aryan Nation, etc.” and fully condemn the philosophies and actions of the NSDAP (Nazi party).

MISSION

This is a non-profit grassroots events. Nobody is getting paid to make it happen! WWII Weekend, WV wants to celebrate West Virginia’s critical contributions to America’s victory in WWII in a vibrant, authentic, interactive festival. West Virginia offered the fifth highest percentage of service men and women in the war, many of whom became decorated heroes. The state contributed an essential 600 million tons of coal to the effort, as women and children on the home front moved into new roles working on wartime thrift and self-sufficiency. WWII Weekend, WV is proud of this history! We honor our vets and our home front supporters by educating our citizens about their contributions. We are excited to help grow a multi-generational community around respecting those who sacrificed so much.
