World Series Tournament 11 Year Old

Donation protected
The 11 year Old West Texas Generals baseball team is an unique baseball team and much different than most teams.  The team was initially founded on the premise of bringing kids from Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas together and for them to learn from each other.  Learn different languages, and cultures and learn to be more accepting of each others differences.  The team only consists of two bi-lingual players (Alec & Drew).  The rest must learn to communicate and work with the other players and coaches who don't speak the other players particular language. Even the coaches are consisted of individuals from  Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas and the same obstacles that arise from differing languages and cultures apply to them as well.

What started out as just an idea has morphed into a team that won it's first two tournaments it entered. The teams last championship win, gave the young Generals the opportunity to particiapte in the Xtreme diamond World Series Tournament in San Diego, Ca. July 25 - 31st. (www.xtremediamondsports.com)

Not only is the team unique for players and coaches, but to watch how parents of differeing cities, states, countries learn to become friends and communicate is very gratifying.  While some may look at this as just a team, we believe that these young men have demonstrated how love and passion for something can bring people together. These boys have brought families together who normally would never know  each other.

An obstacle that is not necesarily one for most U.S. little league baseball teams is the current de-valuation of the Mexican Peso. Half the team is effected by this de-valuation and the cost to converting Pesos to U.S. dollars and the cost of staying in San Diego can be quite high compared to even a low income wage earner in the U.S.  The assistance of Others is needed.  The team G.M. will donate $1,000 to our efforts if we can raise the rest.

A brief bio of the young players:

Sebastian Gloria #12 - Dynamite comes in small packages this Short Stop and Utililty Player is a 1 time All Star (swbbl.org) and was recently invited to play for Team Chihuahua in Mexico's World Series this May. When Sebas is around the team thrives. (Mexico)

Fuad Trabulsi #99 - The quite Ice in his veins starting pitcher is also the lead off hitter he is a 1 Time All Star (swbbl.org) and just recently returned after representing team Juarez in a National Tournament(Mexico)

Alec Guevara #1 - You wouldn't know this is the youngest player on the team (10).  The speedy left hander and starting Right Fielder is also a 3 time all star (swbbl.org) and one of the teams starting pitchers. This lefty can hit but also lay down a mean bunt.(U.S.)

Andrew Morris #13 - Drew is the biggest player on the team and with that size comes a large heart. The team's favorite player is a  Catcher/3rd basemen.  A 3 time all star and 1 time player of year for his team (swbbl.org) (U.S.)

Rommel Scott #42 - 1st baseman and considered if not the best hitter in town one of the best hitters in our area.  Many teams have tried to have Rommel play for them due to his amazing 1st baseman skills.  A team favorite Rommel leads the team in out of the park home runs and prefers his coaches speak English to him. (Mexico)

Oziel Mendez #8 - Don't let his size fool you, the starting catcher has a cannon for an arm and few teams try to steal when he is behind the plate. (Mexico)

Patrick Chavez #7 - Smartest player on the field, He knows how to play just about any poistion and has played them all. The tricky lefty has played Pitcher to catcher, to infield to outfield. PJ  is a 2 time all star and a coach favorite (swbbl.org) (U.S.)

Mariano Lara #6 - The teams "closer".  Like the famous Mariano Rivera of the Yankees, this player is called into action when the team needs a pitcher to come in and finish out the game. When he is called into a game he makes his long run in from his starting  Center Fielder position.   A recent candidate to Team Chihuahua. (Mexico)

Dylan Bando #34 - When he's not pitching he is either playing 2nd base or catching.  Without this young man's heart and sheer love of the game, this team would not have the success it's had. (Mexico)

Nick Guerrero #10 - Left Fielder, some people are just blessed with the ability to throw the ball and throw it hard, fast  and a long way. That's number 10.  Nick is currently working on becoming a pitcher as well. (U.S.)

Issac Garcia #23 -  The number 2 hitter on the team, Issac can play anywhere you put him.  The quiet one is dependable anywhere on the field and if he is not playing a baseball game he's at a baseball field perfecting his craft. (U.S.)

Julio Bali #100 - The most exciting outfielder around.  When Julio makes a catch they are usually game saving catches.  The always smiling outfielder has saved more than a few games for the team, including a semi-final game where he leaped above the fence to take a way a potential go ahead home run. (Mexico)

Erick Meneses #66 - The newest member of the team Erick is one of the teams starting pitchers as well as one of the teams 3rd basemen.  Erick has helped lift the team to new level of play based on his excellent pitching. His last outing in our last tournament Erick pitched a 1 run game in the semi-finals with the Generals winning 11-1. (U.S.)

As you can see the diverse team needs your assitance to travel and stay in San Diego for 7 days.  Your donation will help these 13  children and 2 coaches attend this special honor.
