Woody Guthrie's 26 Northwest Songs

Donation protected

Some of Woody Guthrie's most famous and enduring songs - "Roll On, Columbia" and "Pastures of Plenty - were composed during one prolific month in May of 1941. Woody was hired to write songs to promote the efforts of the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, Oregon. He turned in 26 songs, and still some of them have only been published in the Roll On Columbia Songbook--they have never been recorded. Now, multiple generations of Northwest-based roots music artists are collaborating on an album that will represent the first time all 26 songs have been recorded together as an album.
Led by northwest native Joe Seamons, folk musician (and former BPA employee) Bill Murlin, and renouned musician / producer Jon Neufeld, this project is bringing together over a dozen different Northwest-based bands to professionally record and release the new album.

With recording sessions booked in both Portland and Seattle, and a release date set for May 28th, 2016 - now is your time to help contribute to this landmark effort to explore the power and wonder of Woody Guthrie's incredible compositions.
