Who I am- My name is Dora Lambert and I live in Baton Rouge. I have been given the honor as coordinator for the Women's March on Washington- Louisiana effort. My passion is women's rights which include access to healthcare, reproductive rights, voting rights, and employment rights to name a few.
What this is about- My committee and I are raising funds for buses, train tickets, and local march needs for those in Louisiana that would not be afforded to attend the Women's March on Washington February 21st.
What is the Women's March on Washington- The Women's March on Washington's mission is to stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.
What we intend to make happen for Louisiana- We intend to help as many people as possible get to D.C. and assist with those that can't physically go to D.C. have a productive march in Louisiana. All left over funds will be donated to the National Organization for Women chapters in Louisiana.
How much is this going to cost- Bus tickets per person are $312 dollars and each bus seats 35 at minimum. We are hoping to cut cost by one-third to one-half of advertised ticket price. If people would prefer to take amtrak, we will help fund them. The last matter is permits for the local march which will equal out at $350.
When do we need the money by- The gofundme will have a deadline of January 5th. We need to secure reservations for these buses as soon as possible.
My gratitude for your help- This truly means alot to me and the women of Louisiana. We want to represent as many women as possible and show the beauty of our unique culture at the Women's March on Washington. Only with your efforts can we succeed.
