What is Wollangarra?
Wollangarra is an outdoor education centre, which provides the opportunity for young people to reconnect with the outdoors through a three stage program. These programs involve hiking, and giving back to the community by working with parks Victoria on trackwork and projects in the Victorian high country. These projects include boardwalk building, to protect native endangered species, and creating new tracks for wollangarra to run hiking projects on.
What is the alpine walk?
Each year, 5 young people from Wollangarra, and 5 from mittagundi are selected to participate in a 150km hike through the alpine national park, from Mittagundi to the macalister springs. The alpine walk is one of the biggest fundraising events of the year for Wollangarra.
Where does the money go?
The money which I raise will, after covering costs of the walk itself, sponsor young people, who would otherwise miss out on the experience, to participate in a program at Wollangarra. I cannot stress the importance of this opportunity enough. Wollangarra, and the experience it provides has been a vital part of my, and many other’s lives for many years, and I would love to raise as much money as possible, to provide that opportunity for as many people as I can!
