(Wocotomadi) a 501 (c) 3 organization is raising money to bring Community Health Workers from Africa and Europe. For a week-long conference with their Southcoast Massachussetts conterparts.
Headquartered in New Bedford, Wocotomadi provides volunteer service to the sick, needy and distressed, both here on the Southcoast and in the French-speaking regions of Cameroon.
Medical equipment, such as blood pressure monitors, is shipped to Wocotomadi's representatives in Cameroon who works closely with religious leaders and other volunteers.
The July 8 - 18 conference is to plan future initiatives and to provide education in helping prevent hypertension and diabetes, two endemic condition in Africa.
In addition, Wocotomadi works with veterans groups here and abroad in order to promote veterans well being.
