WMHS Band Inaugural Parade 2017

We have BIG NEWS! The West Monroe High School Rebel Band has been invited to represent the great State of Louisiana in the 2017 Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C.!! After a rigorous application process, this band was selected out of many other applicants to be our state’s musical ambassadors in one of the most prestigious events available to any high school band! This Inaugural Parade will occur on January 20, 2017.
As you may be aware, this band participated in this same parade 12 years ago and was a proud and worthy representative then. The experiences our students gained continues to be a defining moment and highlight of their lives. We are humbled and excited to again be chosen to participate in what is always a historic event, the peaceful transition of power in The United States. Our process is unique to the world and is but one example of the greatness and wisdom of our founding fathers in creating this form of government. To have our students not only witness but be an integral part of this occasion is simply priceless. I firmly believe this will shape their lives for years to come.
The cost to get to Washington is large, and there is but a short time to raise the necessary funds to be your representative. We need your help! Our community, and indeed the entire region of Northeast Louisiana showed such incredible support for us in 2005, and exemplified the best of what makes our area so great. Most of the monies we gathered were in the form of small individual contributions of 50-100 dollars. We absolutely need that same support in 2017! We know how proud our area is to be American, regardless of affiliations, and to help express that pride on a national stage by having YOUR band march is a wonderful and appropriate example. Please help these 200 students, who have proven their musical excellence, to go to Washington, D.C. and represent YOU in way that shows the rest of the country what true community, true excellence, true American spirit means.
Your donations, large and small, are entirely tax deductible through the West Monroe High School Band Boosters.
These donations will help cover travel and lodging expenses for 200 deserving high school musicians. We dont have much time, so please consider donating today!
