Build A Community Kitchen

Donation protected
This project cannot be completed without your help!

Have you ever wanted to produce your own food products but did not want to invest in the overhead of a certified kitchen?

The Williamsport Community Kitchen (WCK) is the place for you!!

The WCK is a nonprofit, shared commercial kitchen being built by a local father-daughter team, Ken and Lisa Andrus.

Lisa, moved back to her hometown of Williamsport after 23 years of working in the hospitality and higher education industries. Realizing a need for food businesses to be able to start-up and growth, Lisa created the non-profit.

Her father, Ken, a retired Industrial and Technology school teacher, jumped right in as the main contractor to build the kitchen!
Together, they created the 1,000 ft. kitchen space, within the Clearstory event venue in the Pajama Factory.

We recycled as much of the materials as possible throughout the construction phase...we did not even have to purchase 2x4's and plywood due to our recycling efforts!

Ken and Lisa have donated hundreds of hours of labor and personal funds to move this project forward...

But our funds are depleted and we need your help!

The largest expense currently is the installation of the two hoods and fire suppression systems. W

We need $8,000 just to install the hood and fire suppression systems!

Through online auctions, craigslist, and personal connections were able to purchase some of the equipment.

WHAT WE STILL NEED:
1- 6 burner gas range
2- convection ovens (gas)
1- standing mixer
1- refrigerator and freezer set
2- prep sinks (tables with sinks)
4- stainless steel work tables
4- stainless steel storage units
1- tilting skillet
Materials to build a custom Walk-in cooler

The WCK is a 501 c3 designated nonprofit corporation.

We are already helping other non-profits in the community such as Thrive International Programs http://thriveip.org/comfort-food-from-around-the-world/

When the kitchen opens, Thrive will be cooking their monthly ethic dinners with us to raise money for English language classes!

Weekly we are receiving inquiries from people who are excited to join the kitchen and grow their buisnesses!

Not familiar with the Pajama Factory facility?

The Pajama Factory is a multi-platform community of people who have come together (in a rejuvenated, historic factory complex located in Williamsport Pennsylvania), to build off of each other’s strengths and dreams in order to create something bigger than themselves. The WCK contributes to Pajama Factory's goal to foster a unique work and work/live community by developing a “balanced eco-system” of established and emerging artists, businesses, entrepreneurs, craftspeople, and community groups.

To kick start the campaign we are offering a free t-shirt to anyone who donates $100 or more!
