Visiting my painting in London

Hello, my name is William Neukomm. Five and a half years ago, I quit my job, uprooted my wife and children, and enrolled in the Florence Academy of Art, where I spent three years pursuing my love of realist painting.

My hard work and sacrifice are now being validated. My painting, Portrait of Katrina, is one of 53 paintings selected from 2,557 entries, to be exhibited as part of the BP Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London. 

My wife and I have been invited to attend the private viewing of the show on June 22 of this year. After checking travel websites, it appears we will need around $4,000 to make the trip. I will be booking soon to avoid price hikes, but it will have to go on the credit card. I simply do not have the cash. Shipping the painting to London has already cost me $350, and I will have to pay that much again next summer to bring it home after it's year abroad.

This is one of the most prestigious awards in the world for portraiture, and I am incredibly honored to be included. I believe this exhibit will begin to open doors for me in the art world, and it is incredibly important to me to be able to attend the opening.
