PLEASE HELP THE WILDLIFE ORPHANS
Donation protected
The Wildlife Orphanage and Hedgehog Hospital,
based in Barlby, North Yorkshire, is a small wildlife rescue dedicated to the care of newborn, newly hatched and very young wildlife orphans.
We also care for orphaned, underweight, poorly and injured hedgehogs. From September through to the following Spring, the bulk of our work is caring for the Autumn Juveniles who are too small to survive hibernation. In January 2018, during sub-zero temperatures, we are still admitting small, juvenile hedgehogs.
Established in June, 2012, the Rescue continues to grow and is now taking in around 400 orphans each year from across Yorkshire. These tiny, vulnerable orphans require specialist foods and constant warmth which is provided by way of 6 intensive care units, all running 24/7 throughout the orphan season.
But in addition to foods, fluids, medications, warmth, blankets, bedding, light and heating, we also have to find huge chunks of money for boring but essential items such as Insurance and waste disposal. These two items alone cost in excess of £1,200 per year.
In 2017, we were so busy with the wildlife admissions, we only managed two fundraisers. The bulk of our fundraising helps us keep the Wildlife Cabin warm throughout the winter months as we need logs and coal to keep our main source of heat, a multi-fuel stove running.
Sadly, wildlife is often at the bottom of the charity ladder and that's such a shame because wildlife brings so much pleasure into everyone's life. Please help us to keep helping the orphans and the poorly hedgehogs in 2018 by making a small donation. Thank you so much.
