Meet beautiful baby boy Wilder - he was born November 2017. Our dear friend Kara had him on her own and at 3 days of life, Wilder was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. As a single mother, this news rocked her world. Having a child on your own is already challenging but then having a child with Down Syndrome on your own raises questions of how you will cope.

Down Syndrome children have gaps in their development which delays crawling, walking, speech, coordination, physical growth, intellect and cognition. Life for our beautiful friend Kara changed completely, she’s had to take extensive time off work, moved in with her parents and reassess her future. However one thing that has never wavered is her focus on how she can give Wilder the best life opportunities now and for his future.

As a teacher, Kara understands how important early learning is for Wilder, which is where we come in.
We want to raise $35,000 to pay for Kara to access a program designed specifically for children like Wilder to develop. IAHP will teach Kara a tailored program she can do at home with Wilder every day to overcome the physical and intellectual challenges he will naturally face. This program will accelerate Wilder’s development beyond his predicted trajectory by bridging the gap in the physical and intellectual delays. IAHP has benefited many children with Down Syndrome to become independent and highly functional and to surpass expectations, and this is our aim for Wilder.

Let’s give him the opportunity to succeed against all odds.

Meet Michelle! She's our newest addition to Wilder's Warriors and here is her story:

"My Name is Michelle. My goal is to fly to Nepal in April to trek to Mt Everest Base Camp and raise money for Wilder and his mum Kara to get to America. There they can access a program designed specifically for children like Wilder to develop and become independent.

We live in a world that is so fast paced and time restricted. I've struggled most of my life to keep up.

My brain processes things differently, especially when it comes to movement. I over compensate and use the wrong muscles and find it difficult to learn new concepts and ways of moving.

My joints are extremely hypermobile and I injure myself very easily. This has meant maintaining any level of fitness has been difficult, and as I got older exercising resulted in a never ending cycle of injury and pain, leaving me unable to progress.

A year ago I decided I needed to find a way through this as my quality of life was declining. So I set myself the really big goal of trekking to base camp to motivate myself to push through the cycle of pain and injury and get myself fit. I also wanted to raise money for someone else in the process, and give them a chance at living a full life of their choosing.

I've had to learn to slow down, listen to my body, and most importantly I've had to change my mindset and live life to the beat of my own drums.

Please help me help Wilder get to America to give him an opportunity to succeed."
