WHS Band Citrus Bowl Parade

Westmoreland is a small town in Middle Tennessee with a population of less than 2500 people. Our high school band students have worked tirelessly and have grown mucially and personally in leaps and bounds over the past year under the direction of Jennifer Peterson, who has given us the slogan of "Small Town, Big Sound". The band students are encouraged to reach their full potential, given guidance and tips on applying for college scholarships, and also shown the importance of giving back to the community. Their work has not gone unnoticed, and our students have been invited to March and Play in the 2017 Citrus Bowl Parade on December 30th 2017.
Being a small rural town, we are limited in the ability to raise such large amounts of funds in order to make the trip possible for these hard-working students. We are in need of funding and are graciously accepting donations. The cost per student will be approximately $740.00. We will need to raise roughly $30,000 in order for each student to be covered; however, any amount of donations will directly reduce the out-of-pocket expenses per student. This will cover transporation, passes to Universal Studio, meals, and their hotel stay.
With music in schools receiving very little funding, the burden lies on the students, parents and community to pay for competetions, uniforms, transporation and instrument repairs. Our Boosters work diligently to raise money for these basic needs. It is a dream come true for these students to receive an invitation to participate in such an event; however it does come with a price.
