Where's Wayne

Wayne is part of the officially endorsed legacy project, the “Bison-tennial Public Art Project” which aims to celebrate Indiana’s rich history in the state’s 200th year. Bison public art pieces will be highlighted along the Bicentennial Torch Relay route, from Sept. 9 through Oct.15, 2016, culminating in Indiana’s Statehood Day on Dec. 11, 2016.


Wayne the Bison feels right at home in Wayne County as he celebrates the “Bison-tennial” with our community.  However, he would like to learn more about what makes him unique compared to other bison in the state. He is asking for the community to help determine what he should look like. By voting on your favorite design for head and body, Wayne will gain color, and knowledge about what makes Wayne County such an outstanding place to live. Wayne also knows the importance of investing in his community to create lasting change, so every dollar raised will go towards the United Way of Whitewater Valley’s Annual campaign. He may just be a bison, but he understands and cares about the quality of life in the Whitewater Valley. He knows that we are all connected, and that our community is stronger when families are stable, when children succeed and when people enjoy good health. In Wayne’s world, reaching out a hoof to one, and influencing the condition of ALL equals success!

Wayne will be excited to show off his new digs once the voting is done and he visits the art studio. He will tour the area making appearances at events, participating in parades and homecomings, as well as have the opportunity to be ‘hosted’ by local businesses and organizations.

Wayne is looking forward to his future here in Wayne County, and would like to THANK YOU for helping him. Not just for designing him, but also for voting to combat family violence, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood obesity, juvenile delinquency, and teen pregnancy, as well as ensuring community members are receiving basic necessities such as food, housing, and utilities.  Your vote counts…in more ways than you could imagine!
