Imagine if you found yourelf one day with no one...your spouse, your friends, your kids are all gone at the end of your days.
Lucy Corr Village (LCV) is the largest not-for-profit long-term care facility in Central Virginia, and it currently serves 50 residents who fit this description. These elderly citizens once served our great nation as soldiers, nurses, teachers, craftsmen, first responders and public servants. Now they have no one left to mark birthdays -- no visitors or gifts on Christmas.
Many have outlived their relatives, while others have been simply abandoned by family who couldn't meet the burden of caring for a relative, emotionally or financially.
The Lucy Corr Foundation raises money to improve the life of all residents of Lucy Corr Village, but we can't do it alone. This year, we're hoping to raise $5,000 before Christmas, so each of these 50 souls can have a little something extra for the holidays. My name is Dave Saunders and I have a great aunt at LCV whom I love dearly. I've been on the board of the foundation for almost 5 years. Recently I found out that these 50 folks have no one left, except us....
100% of your donation will go to the abandoned elderly residents and donations through the Lucy Corr Foundation are tax deductible.
The following are examples of where your money goes:
Hygiene items (tooth brush, soap, shampoo, deodorant) $10
Nonperishable snacks and beverages $12
Towels and washcloths $15
Socks and underwear $20.
Sleepwear and Robes $30
Everyday clothing (shirts, slacks, skirts, t-shirts) $40
Large print Bibles $50
Monthly art therapy $30
