Wheelchair Accessible vehicle for Julio

On August 30, 2016, our lives were forever changed.

My husband, Julio, suffered from a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that ruptured and caused bleeding in the brain (hemorrhage). It happened during the night, so it may have been hours before the paramedics were called since I was asleep. He was rushed to Queen's West, but after doing some diagnostic tests, he was rushed to Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu where they were better equipped to take care of his life threatening situation. The neurosurgeon saved his life, but it was (and still is) a long road ahead of him. It was months before he attempted to speak and over a year before he was able to start eating pureed food (rather than being fed through a tube). He still has a lot of weakness on his right side and cannot walk. He currently resides in a rehabilitation/nursing facility because he needs someone to care for him as I work a full time job 40+ hours a week.
Julio is 58 years old and I cannot imagine him living the rest of his life in a facility. The goal is to bring him home and have him attend an adult day care program in the day while I work, and then I will care for him when we get home. But we need a way to get him to the day program, so we want to purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle for that purpose. It will also bring a sense of "normalcy" as we will be able to go places without having to rely on the Handi-Van. While I appreciate having the Handi-Van service, it just would not work for us when Julio comes home.
We are humbly asking for your support to raise $5000 to help us towards the down payment of the wheelchair accessible vehicle. I also plan to sell Julio's truck and use that money plus money from other items that we've been selling on Craigslist and garage sales to go towards the vehicle.
