Weyrauchs "ALS" life changer!!!

Donation protected
The Newman Lake community is very much a family. When anyone is in need, we step forward.
That’s what we need you to do now. One of our families need help and would never ask on their own, but have
literally given the shirts off their backs for others.
Even if you don’t know Scott and Eileen Weyrauch by name, chances are you know their faces because
they are extremely involved in our community. They have lived at Newman since 1993. Eileen is the
smiling face who greets you at the Grange spaghetti feeds and the Santa Breakfast. She was also a
founding member of the Newman Lake Scope, is a fire commissioner for Newman Lake Fire and Rescue,
a member of the Fire Auxiliary, and a member of the Newman Lake Property Owners Association.
Scott has been a fire fighter with Newman Lake Fire and Rescue since 1993 and many of us have been
served by him in our time of need. He also does most of the maintenance and upkeep of the Grange.
Together, the two have been scout leaders for Troop 490 in the Newman Lake area for 23 years and
have been very active in the school district making sure less privileged students have clothing, food and
school supplies. They have also served children in another way- three of their four sons are adopted and
the last adopted son is the 56th child they have taken in over the years as a foster child.
Unfortunately, bad things happen to good people and that is exactly what is happening to the
Weyrauchs now. After noticing a weakness in his arms, Scott was diagnosed with ALS in late 2017. He is
also recovering from a recent heart surgery. Eileen has been in and out of the hospital lately with issues
related to severe asthma and their youngest son has had some health problems on and off as well. Add
to that the death of a few family members in the past year and Scott not being able to work due to his
illness and Scott and Eileen need some help.
To make ends meet and simplify their lives, they are moving off the lake (but trying to stay in the
Newman Lake area) and holding a big moving sale on April 27 and 28 at the Tri Community Grange
(25025 E. Heather Lane just off Trent) to raise money. More help is needed though, so here’s how you
can help:
• Donate items to the sale that you no longer need. It can be clothing, housewares, or anything
else you don’t need anymore. Brian for information on how to get items to the
Weyrauchs.
• Volunteer to help set up for the sale or staff it. Setup will be Thursday, April 26. Call Brian if you
can help, or just show up on whichever day you are available.
• Give cash. Money is the biggest need for Scott and Eileen. Anything helps. Even if every person
in the Newman Lake area gave just $5, it would be a huge help. More is welcome of course.
There is a GoFundMe account set up for the Weyrauchs Please give whatever you can.
• Pray for them. ALS is a scary disease but Scott and Eileen and their boys have a lot of faith and
are strong people, and God works in mysterious ways, as the saying goes.
Thank you Newman Lake community! I have seen you all lend a hand in the past when someone was in
need and I know you can do it again!
