Emily Nuse is our colleague and friend at the University of Vermont. Emily has been living with cystic fibrosis since she was diagnosed at age 5. She is married to her wonderful husband Zac and they just celebrated the birth of their daughter Katherine Jane Nuse on November 23, 2016.
Last Saturday Emily woke up not feeling well and by the end of the day was diagnosed with pneumonia and found herself in the ICU at UVM Medical Center. Battling pneumonia is tough on anyone but it is especially challenging for someone with cystic fibrosis. Emily will be inpatient while she is treated and then will need to be home resting and recovering before she can begin to think about coming back to work.
Emily has just returned to work after her maternity leave and is completely out of vacation and sick time. These funds that we raise will specifically help Emily and Zac pay their bills and cope with medical expenses that are not covered by health insurance. Our goal is to ease their burden so that Emily can focus on healing and regaining her lung function.
