West End Regional Dog Park

Your donation will allow us to create a multiple acre Leash-Free Dog Park to fullfil a dream of the late David Fleetwood, a longtime community leader and public servant who died a hero on August 5, 2013 in a horrific shooting at a Ross Township meeting. That fateful night, he pushed a woman out of the line of fire and took the shots aimed at her, forfeiting his own life.
Dave was instrumental in creating the West End Regional Park. The park is to be the centerpeice for all recreation opportunities in the area. Situated 10 miles from any public park, the Regional Park needs to be developed appealing to a wide variety of users and host activities from across the region.
Dog lovers of the West End Area of Monroe County, PA have to drive to other communities out of the county to find an Leash-Free Park they can enjoy with their friends, both dog and human. Area residents are joining together in their quest for a Dog Park where they can take their furry friends for some off leash fun. Monreo County has been one of the fastest growing communities in the state, with many dogs arriving with their owners.
This Dog Park will be completely fenced with separate areas for both large and small dogs. An enclosed staging area will provide controlled access. The proposed park encompasses both a wooded area and open field to maximize enjoyment for all users.
A healthy dog is happier and better equiped to meet other dogs and humans. Dogs are wonderful ice-breakers and a dog park builds friendships and enhances community involvement. Having a dog also encourages a healthier lifestyle.
We need to raise an additional $10,000 by July in order to make the project move forward. This means we really have the chance and capability to make the Leash-Free Dog Park a reality in Monroe County, PA.
