In the words of Marcia Hines … “Music is my Life” !!!

I cannot remember a time when music has not been a part of my every day.

My family were all musical and I was the youngest of five girls.  With our parents, we sang at Church Functions, Nursing Homes and Clubs.  Let’s call us the original “Partridge Family”.

I have two amazing children, who are the light of my life.  My son Jarred and my daughter Cassandra (Cassie).  In 1991, Cassie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).  It was at that time, that lyrics and melodies invaded my thoughts and my songwriting days were conceived.  At night, after my kids were tucked up in bed, I would pick up my guitar, who became my best friend, and together, we got through some of the most difficult times of my life.  To this day, she still plays an integral part.

For my debut album, “Enchanted Wood”, released in 2013, I was very fortunate to run a successful Indiegogo Campaign.  The experience was amazing and my album, both here in Australia and overseas, to my great delight, was very well received.  “Enchanted Wood” won me the Nashville Universe Songwriter Of The Year Award in both 2014 and 2015 and has received four Number One songs on VRadio Nashville.  Wow … I’m blown away!!!!

I have been asked on many occasions:  “When is the next album coming out”?  So, the time has now come.  And … to make it happen, I am again asking all you beautiful people to consider pre-ordering my new album “Life And Breath”.

Now, let’s reiterate …

Who is Wendy Wood?

I am a singer / songwriter and I have been songwriting for over 20 years.  For many years, I was part of a harmony trio by the name of “Those Gals”, along with Kerry Walsh and Carolyne Morris.  Our repertoire was a mix of covers and originals.  Performing my originals was and is, always a thrill.  To see the audience singing my lyrics back to me, fills me with joy.  An incredible feeling, that never grows old.

The harmony trio “Those Gals” are no longer, but Carolyne and I, who are now a harmony duo and call ourselves “Two Gals”, continue to bring covers and our originals to you wonderful people who follow us.

In 1997, I won my first Songwriting Competition.  This was my inspiration to improve my craft and to write better songs.  Songs close to my heart.  I have since won numerous awards and I am both honoured and humbled to have done so.  It is a privilege to get recognition and acknowledgement for my lyrics.

What is “Life And Breath” all about?

“Life And Breath” is an album of original songs.  It’s about life and it’s about relationships.  Each song has been inspired by events that have happened in my life and stories of those around me.

One song in particular “A Matter Of Life And Breath”, is a song that I wrote with my daughter Cassie, who as I mentioned earlier, has Cystic Fibrosis.  The song is about what it is like to be a young adult with CF.  Trying to get on with life and just to live like everyone else.  The challenges that are faced every day and the feelings that course through their entire lives.  This song made it through to the Top 10 of the Ballad Section of the Australian Songwriters’ Association Awards.  Understandably, we are so very proud of this song and our hope is that it raises awareness for CF and that we can raise funds to help find a cure for this devastating disease.

The monies that are raised from the Go Fund Me Campaign will be added to what I have been able to save to make my dream a reality.  Enrec Studio in Tamworth, NSW, will be recording my album, with Steve Newton at the helm.  They will be involved in the total recording process, including:  Producing, Musicians, Pressing and Graphic Artwork for the album.

I am so excited and I very much look forward to hearing my songs brought to life in the studio and I am so, so thrilled to be able to bring them all to you.  I hope they give you as much joy listening to them as they will give me to record them.
