Wendy Remmel's Medical Recovery

Donation protected
At the end of September, our awesome mom Wendy endured a heart breaking accident at her home in Menasha, Wisconsin.  While diligently cleaning the gutters, she fell off of the roof and suffered several severe traumatic injuries. Both of her heels were crushed in the fall, her left leg was broken in three places, her right forearm and wrist were broken, and a vertebrae in her back was shattered.

After the fall, she was rushed to the trauma center at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah and had her arm and leg surgically repaired with pins, rods, and plates.  For the recovery of her back, she has to wear an uncomfortable brace to help her sit up, and back surgery may be in her future. The doctors have not yet decided what to do for her crushed heels.  Because she is a Type 1 Diabetic, heel surgery will be challenging and her overall recovery complicated.

Since leaving the hospital, she has been at Oakridge Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she will continue her recovery until the end of the 100 days that is partially covered by her insurance.  Then she will need some form of in-home care as her mobility will be challenged. We are hopeful that she will be back on her feet, but it could be months if not years of healing, therapy, and determination.

Although Wendy has health insurance, the estimated out-of-pocket medical expenses and costs of adjustments for mobility will be high.  Being a single mom on a fixed income, making ends meet could be out of reach. Please help us ease the stress of Wendy’s financial burden so she can focus on recovery.  Whether she is being a thoughtful Mom or Sister, volunteering at her UCC Church, or cheering up a friend, Wendy is always thinking of others. Let’s return the favor!

Whether or not you are able to make a donation, please consider sharing this fundraiser and a story about Wendy on the donation page or on social media.  We would love to share these stories with Wendy to show her how thankful we are for her and her recovery.

Thanks and Love,
