My daughter, Diana Brooks, is trying to save a business that has been in Wells, MN for almost 150 years.  Wells is a city of approximately 2350 population.  Diana is a US Coast Guard Veteran, she served for 15 years.  She left the Coast Guard because she is a single parent and just couldn't be away from her child.  He needed her and she needed him.  After working several jobs where she worked long hours, she secured a position at a local bank.  After 9 months her bank merged and she was laid off.  She found the job at the Wells Mirror.  She took the job and loved it, as a writer and copy editor.  The owners of the paper approached her and told her they were going to try and sell the paper, and told her if she wanted to take it over they would work with her.  She didn't want to lose another job, so she said okay.  She assumed the outstanding debt they had and tried to secure a grant or a loan.  She even tried to get help from Veteran organizations and was unsuccessful.  My husband and I have helped her all that we are able.  The paper is very important to the community.  It serves Wells and many of the surrounding communities in rural southern Minnesota.  The Wells Mirror is information link to the school which serves all of these communities.  People want this paper to continue.  They publish current news, school sports and events, community activities and business ads.  I will end this request, we are very proud of Diana, she works hard and is dedicated to her son and her business.  Thank you so very much
