We DID buy my house!!!

$13,600 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 214 people in 42 months
I bought my house 12 years ago, with the help of friends. I am an autistic woman with 3 kids, 2 on the spectrum. I was in an abusive relationship, where I was coerced to add an additional $35,000 to my mortgage supposedly to make repairs. My husband actually damaged the house further...I tried to refinance, I tried to modify...

I spent two years in pre-foreclosure. The bank has refused to negotiate. They have disallowed income. They are only required to go through the process not to agree to a trial repayment.

The house is in an inner city neighborhoodod in upstate. I have 3 children living with me, my home has been open to people in crisis, I am in a complete panic now. My home will go up for sale on February 23. If I can come up with enough money, I can have someone buy it in a short sale. The house is assessed at about $50,000, and would probably sell for 35 or 40k, so immediately I need about $4,000. But what I need is actually someone who would be willing to hold papers, or enough money to buy it back in a short sale.

Any money that is raised will either go to help move me and the three children, dogs and three cats live with me or to save the house.

I hate to promote myself, but I have helped a lot of people, and now I'm asking for help in return. Or maybe not in return, maybe just because I know that the universe is gracious and maybe someone will see this and help. Thank you so much for your attention to this, if you can't help, but want to support me please share this wildly and widely.

Helping save Joan's house isn't really about Joan. Heck, if it were just Joan, she would probably just pack a bag and head off around the world. It's about her 15 year old on the spectrum who used to dread school and is now thriving at Kingston's Pathways Academy, jumping out of bed eager in the mornings, and him getting to graduate with a diploma and his AA. It's about her neighborhood, where she has forged bonds of humanity and is always the first to raise her voice for reason and common sense. It's about the rides she gives and the meals she cooks and the people she keeps warm in various sorts of chill weather. That's why I am proud to share this again.Progress is being made, and I hope it goes all the way. Oh, and Joan herself is hard at work -- both her usual work, and efforts to find the best, most economical, and fairest way to achieve her goal here.

We are doing it! Almost 4K raised so far!! What would Kingston be without Joan Horton voice. This campaign is about more than one woman trying to keep a roof over her and her children's head-- it is about nameless and faceless banks and financial institutions sucking the life-blood out of communities, out of real people with real lives... Let's not let them win this one!!

We've made it to 5.5k! Let's keep going. There is not a single living being in this house that I don't cherish and consider family. Joan is a wonderful beautiful guiding spirit in Allie and my life, continuing to throw light on our lives. Eamonn is my pretty asshole brother who shows me how much he can accomplish no matter what task is at hand and what he's facing, he endures so much. Lenora is a wise being who will grow into a beautiful adult, with a quick mind, a kind heart, and great artistic abilities who is overflowing with endless potential. Gabe is a sweet gentle lug and a breathing computer with nothing but positivity to offer, every conversation I have with Gabe, I learn a lot. There's also some lovely furry family, Biscuit, Scamper, Rosita, and Sunita, a terrifying shag rug and 3 great cats. These people are my family and I know that if I ever needed help, I (or anyone) could find refuge with them. Please continue to donate, all money is important. If you can't donate, please SHARE, LIKE, TAG, COMMENT. Please help us spread the word so that these wonderful people can continue to live peacefully as they have and deserve. Let's keep banks out of houses and keep our people in them. This is our community, this is our family. We are all apart of Kingston.

Joan, I just randomly happened to come across your go fund me as a local fundraiser after donating to a different fundraiser. I like to stay involved with the community whenever possible, and I recognized your family from the office. I know it wasn't much, but I hope it helped.

I can't donate because I am in a similar situation. If I ever have a bit I will send to you. Ex-spouse coerced me into refinancing the house several times; bank loaned him up to 16 thousand dollars without me knowing it and then would fold it into the refinances. I know what you are going through. I hope you get all the funding you need, and I will share this on my wall. I am not able to get my house away from the bank either.
