Please Help Us Go Home Again!
However, the Air Force had other plans for us, and 3 years ago we had to move away to New Mexico. But we kept the house in Catonsville, determined to move back as soon as possible.
My wife has been struggling with her symptoms since we got to New Mexico in August 2012, even spending time in the emergency room where, even after several hours of testing, doctors couldn't find a solution to her inability to breathe. The only time she's had relief was when she went back to Maryland to visit and to check on our house.
Happily we have received orders to return to Maryland this August, back to the home we love, and where my wife can be healthy again.
Unfortunately, when she went back to check on the house and prepare it for the move, she discovered that there was significant water and mold damage throughout our beautiful house, making it unlivable.
In order to remove the mold we will need to do a complete interior gut of the house, and renovate back to a livable state.
Our insurance will not cover any of the damage.
We are scheduled to return in August, and want to have our house available. Please help!
But we still have a ways to go before we can move back home. We're trying to secure a second loan to cover the rest of the work needed to make our house habitable again, but we're about $11,000 short on what we need to qualify for that loan. I've updated the campaign goal to reflect this, and I'm asking for your help again. Please spread the word and help us go home again!
Hey, a friend of mine bought a cabin (home) in the mountains that had the same thing happen (pipe burst over the winter and not found till summer)... her fan looked just like yours, mold everywhere... she bought it with a special loan that is offered to keep homes from being abandoned and then torn down... Keep checking for options... most homeowners would walk away from this hot mess... would your bank intercede with the insurance company to keep you from walking away ? Time to get tough !!! I am finally going back to work so we will donate soon. I will repost this next month and keep reposting to keep it fresh in peoples minds. Love you guys ♥
Julianna, I actually thought of that ... but I don't want to stoop to negative behavior. I did file a report with the Maryland Insurance Administration, and we're trying to pursue every option we possibly can (while still trying to keep a positive, upbeat outlook on the whole situation). Everyone, we appreciate you all so much more than words can express! Every time you share the link, I feel more and more confident that things will work out in the end. ♥
I appreciate you all more than you could possibly imagine! ♥ ♥ ♥
