WE stand for ZOE

Donation protected
My name is Gabie Owens and I am Zoe's sister. Zoe is the strongest girl I have ever met. I am here to ask you to donate whatever you can for my baby sis and tell you her story!

Zoe Owens is a 14-year-old girl who has been going through an on-going, difficult struggle for two years. When she was in middle school, she started to suffer with severe and unbearable health problems, like migraines, vomitting, and abdominal pain. We had many visits to the doctor and no one knew what was wrong. She went through many surgeries and trips to the hospital, with no one having any knowledge on why my Zoe was not doing well.

This past Easter night on April 16th, Zoe stopped eating, and had no balance or coordination when awake. The next day (April 17th), Zoe had a seizure ,for about 1 minute, in our house. It is so scary seeing more than 10 people in my house trying to help Zoe. Paramedics and firefighters were there to help support Zoe in our house that day. Zoe was taken to the hospital, and the doctors positivitly believed that she had a condition of a very severe migraine, which was causing the persistent nausea and headaches.

Adam and Joy Owens, our parents, are nurses and knew that it was something way more than just migraines. On April 18th, 2017, at 3:00am, Zoe told my parents that she loved us all. Startled, Zoe asked, "Mommy? Daddy? Does this mean I am going to die?" My parents said, "No honey. You will be alright. God is with you". Zoe responded by telling my parents that she was ready to see her Grandma and Grandpa in Heaven. By God's grace, Zoe appeared at peace, when she was potentially facing her own passing away. Right after that moment, Zoe went into another seizure that lasted for 10 minutes. Although Zoe was at peace, God granted the doctors and nurses aiding Zoe with wisdom, telling Zoe that it was not her time to go to Heaven just yet.

Zoe knew that something was going to happen and could sense it. She wanted to tell everyone that she loved them so much. When Adam pressed the Emergency Button everyone in the hospital came and helped Zoe. For 10 minutes Zoe was not responding and was not acting like herself. 30 different nurses and doctors came in to support Zoe and help calm her down. She stopped breathing for a very short time.

After Zoe stopped having the seizure, my parents fought for Zoe to get an MRI. The doctors finally decided to see if there was anything in her brain. They found a brain tumor the size of a golf ball at the base of Zoe's brain stem, surrounded by fluids that were compressing her brain.

The doctors said that they need to treat the tumor as soon as possible. Zoe soon had another surgery right after the MRI to get some fluid out of her head which would stop the headaches. The next day Zoe had the brain tumor surgery. The surgery was supposed to be 4 hours ,but it took 8 hours to take 95% of the tumor out. Thankfully, the tumor was not cancerous and was only the first stage of a brain tumor.

This past week has been the scariest week of my life for my family and I. As a sister, I see Zoe and talk to her everyday. Coming from being so close to my sister to not being able to speak with her at all breaks my heart. My family and I have been praying for a quick recovery and peace, and God has slowly given us this desired peace throughout the past week.

After the brain tumor surgery, Zoe kept resting. She still hasn't woken up from surgery since this day (April 29th). She just had another surgery (April 28th) to have a shunt running from her head into her stomach, rather than from her head to the outside of her head. This shunt will help control the excess fluids around Zoe's brain.

She is super strong. I want you to know that God had this plan. He had everything come up for a reason. He had the time and the placing spot on.  Even through this crazy trial of faith, God has not forsaken my family. We are so thankful for the consistent prayer and support we have recieved, and we would sincerely appreaciate your help, too.

ZOE is a MIRACLE. I need this fund for Zoe because she is going to need so many new changes  for her health plan to help her recover, all of which are not cheap. She will have a series of tests in the future, such as MRI testing every 3 months. She will have to have rehab for months or even years. On top of MRI and rehab/therapy costs, we need this fund for medical supplies and medicines as well. She may not walk for weeks or months. She may have to be in a wheelchair up to months on end. Only God knows, and we put full trust in Him.

This fund is all for Zoe. She is my bestfriend, and I want the ultimate best for her. I feel so helpless not being by her side everyday. This fund would help my family so much. If you would donate money or just pray for us, we are already so thankful for that.

God is so amazing. We are so grateful that Zoe is alive and here right now. Luckily, she is recovering, and she is slowly responding by wiggling her toes or squeezing the surgeon's fingers.

Please just pray for Zoe and my family. We love and apreciate you all so much. Thank you for reading Zoe's story. I can not wait for her to wake up and see all the support from all of you guys :)

One amazing thing about my little Zoe, is that she wants to be a pediatric oncologist when she grows up. Isn't that amazing how Zoe wants the be the doctor who treats kids with what she just went through? God works in wonderful ways am I right?

This is all for my baby zozo. I am so proud of her. She is stronger than I will ever be. She can do anything with Christ who strengthens her.

Thank you again,

Gabie :)
