Kesho Wazo, Maine’s transformative youth arts and activism collective brings you Portland’s own Wazo Fest on July 21st- 23rd, 2017. Healthy, peaceful, and stimulated creative minds are the key to building a strong community. Wazo Fest is Kesho Wazo’s remedy for the city to stimulate deep healing and give voice to Portland’s amazing diversity.
Wazo Fest will feature music, film, meditation, discussions, workshops, skating, and healthy food as the vehicles by which we will empower all members of our community.

On Friday, July 21st, at 6 pm, Wazo Fest begins. Day 1’s theme is Spirituality and kicks off with a multi-faith blessing of the city at Fox Field in Kennedy Park led by spiritual leaders from around our community. Remixing the Olympic opening ceremony, we encourage all attendees to wear all white and bring flags from the many place’s Mainer’s have origins in around the world. Saturday, July 22nd, Wazo Fest Wellness day begins at 12 noon. Day 2 is emphasizing outdoor fun and healthy living for all ages at the Portland Skate Park at Dougherty Field. Events will include a BBQ, Wazo merch giveaways, a massive game of SKATE, a skate competition, a mental health workshop and an All-star community kick ball game featuring city officials. Location: Dougherty Field, Saint James Street, Portland, ME
After party on Saturday starts at 10pm at Zero Station with special guests and musical performances also to be released. Location: Zero Station, Anderson Street, Portland, ME
Sunday, July 23rd, is all about artistic expression and the environment. Wazo Fest Day 3 begins at 10 am with soundcheck and East End garbage/litter clean up featuring composting, recycling and upcycling workshops at the festival grounds at Ft. Allen Park. More community building workshops and local food trucks offering healthy food begin at 12 noon. At 2:30pm, a huge selection of local hip-hop, r&b, psych rock, electronic and jazz artists descend on the Wazo Fest Maine Stage. Wazo Fest 2017 closes at 5pm with a runway fashion show curated by Wazo’s own design team and models. Location: Fort Allen Park, Portland, ME
