Hi,
My name is Kianna and I have endometriosis. It took me 11 years and 7 Dr. to get a diagnoses. In that time I had multiple complications that had the potential to be life threatening.
Unfortunately this story is not unique. One study showed that 1 in 10 women have endometriosis. Endometriosis is one if the least understood and under funded disease processes known to the medical community.
Before excision I had a doctor tell me I just needed to give up on my carrier and dreams as an equestrian and take some anxiety medications. My surgery enabled me to be a able to continue in my carrier and gave me hope that I could still achieve my dreams.
That is where you all come in. I hope to start a non-profit to create recognition for, give a voice to, and empower the dreams of warriors with endometriosis. I hope to start by hosting support groups and powerful awareness campaigns. As funds increase I hope to provide financial aid for surgeries, fund centers to host support groups and counseling where women can come to learn about endometriosis, professionals can give seminars, and more.
I have a few big fundraising campaigns in mind including raising per mile sponsors as O achieve my dream of riding on horse back from Mexico to Canada. Before my diagnosis I was told to stop riding. After my health struggles I have a new dream, not just to ride across the country but to do so with the goal of raising awareness and to raise funds for warriors with endo.
The first step to starting this journey is raising the funds to file for my Corp. and nonprofit 501(c)(3) status. This will cost $625. If you are interested in helping my campaign please consider giving to this cause.
