Wanted: New heart- Let's save Dad's life!

Donation protected
I call him "Papa Bear". He is 6 feet and 6 inches of goofy, kind, hard working, hopeless romantic, karaoke-singing awesomeness.  He is supportive, loving, and makes a delicious Pad Thai. But currently, our family has a dilemma. We need help from our community.

When he was 48 years old, he had just finished as lead on-site architect for Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, OH and was working as head architect for the University of Cincinnati Varsity Villa. For some unknown reason, with no history of high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol, his heart suddenly stopped working. It was functioning at 10%. There was an electrical problem as well that stumped the doctors.

Luckily, medications and a pace maker helped for several years, but now at 63 years old, he has heart failure and an abnormal heart rhythm so severe his pace maker shocks him 30 times in a row, turning his face blue and sending him reeling in pain to the ER.

Our dad needs a new heart- and quickly. The sooner we can afford it and put him on the transplant list, the better- because his height is problematic. The donor heart has to be from a man taller than 6 feet and 2 inches which means less options and a longer waiting time.

We would appreciate any help you can give. It all adds up. He has been with his girlfriend for 6 years- the love of his life- she is endlessly supportive. Let's help them be together for years to come. We know we could physically and emotionally support him through the transplant process, but we just need to be able to afford the procedure.

Thank you, community!
