Wahpeton 14U Babe Ruth Baseball Team

July 30th, 2019. Once upon a time there was a group of 10-year-old boys that wanted to play baseball, so their coaches taught them how to be a team. With a third-place win at their first state tournament it was already clear this wasn’t a team to look past. Each of them grew and when school got out in the spring, they were excited to return to the field.  At 11 they took third at state again, once more at 12. At 13 they took second place at state and although they were proud the sting of being so close to the championship only filled them with more determination. In the spring of 2019 when they stepped on the field it was clear these now young men were ready, and they wanted to play baseball. Their victory at the state tournament was not handed to them, they played hard and worked hard. Two days later on the way to Kansas for the regional tournament they were again determined. Once again, they proved they were not a team to look past and game by game they showed up and played hard. By the championship game their whole city was behind them, listening and praying from home. It was hot and they were tired and behind, yet they didn’t give up and kept in the game. In bottom of the seventh inning they scored the finial runs they needed to bring home the championship, but they worked for that moment for years.

Now on August 6th they are headed to Alabama to play in the Babe Ruth World Series. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and one they will never forget………….but I think many people will remember this 14U Babe Ruth Baseball team.

July 21st, 2019 - The Wahpeton 14U Babe Ruth baseball team made local history Sunday, becoming the first Wahpeton Babe Ruth baseball to win a state championship game. This team of boys is what American baseball is all about, they love the game and each other even more. Their coach expects them to conduct themselves as good sportsman and they do just that making their city and parents very proud.

Wahpeton Babe Ruth will advance to the Midwest Plains Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Garden City, Kansas. With only a few days to plan and get on the road there has been no time for fundraising. These boys have worked so hard and deserve this so much……so if you love baseball and would like to support a great group of boys, consider donating a few bucks to cover travel and hotel rooms expenses.
