Wirral Women and Children's Aid

Wirral Women and Children's Aid is a refuge created for women and children who are fleeing domestic abuse. Donations raised will be used on one project within the refuge or contribute towards their current development in re-furnishing the property, re-decorating the on-site play-room and re-landscaping the garden including a play area. Donations raised may also support their plans to expand their psychoeducational programmes into the community for people who aren't in need of refuge, but in desperate need of support.

During a typical stay at this safe-haven, the families are offered intensive emotional support in addressing the impact that the abuse has had on them. This includes astounding psychoeducational abuse programmes named Gateway (for women) and Butterflies (for children), these programmes are vital in the prevention of further domestic abuse.

At the refuge families have access to an on-site playroom which offers a functional space mainly used for led-play, as a crèche facility and for therapeutic work for the children. When the families are ready, they are offered support to be re-homed in a safe area as part of the move on from the refuge.

All donations will be added to the money raised during the Nasty Women Liverpool event.
