Mr. C's Medical Treatment Fund
On May 6, 2015, Brian Campopiano was found unconscious by his employees at Marin Treks Natural History Museum. After five grueling days in the ICU, transferring to a second hospital, and a battery of tests, we received the devastating news… Brian has a brain tumor. There are still many unanswered questions about this tumor, but surgery is in Brian's future. We are hopeful that it was found early enough and that the prognosis will be good.
Brian (affectionately known as Mr. C by his students, and Groucho by his school mates) is a husband, the father of two beautiful, strong, talented girls (ages 17 and 12), a friend, a naturalist, and an entrepreneur. Brian is known for his warm and friendly spirit that radiates happiness, energy, and caring wherever he goes. Brian and his wife, Lina, founded Marin Treks, a hands-on natural history and science museum in Novato, California. Children of all ages flock to Marin Treks classes, field trips, birthday parties, and summer camps. Brian is adored by everyone who knows him.
The medical bills are coming in, and if Brian and Lina don't work, they don't get paid. We established this page to help with Brian's medical expenses so that his family is financially supported, and they can continue to run Marin Treks.
Brian is eager to watch his daughters graduate, walk down the aisle, and have children of their own. (Imagine Mr. C as a grandfather and all the fun adventures he’ll take with his grandkids!) He has mountains to climb, trails to hike, rivers to raft, and many adventures to share with Lina after they both retire. Please help us support Brian and Lina and the girls in these uncertain times. Our goal is to help them keep their home, their business, and their hopes up.
October Update: After months of evaluations, scans, discussions, tests, and the like, Mr. C's last scan does not show evidence of a brain tumor! We are thankful for the love, support, and help, and we are most thankful for no evidence of a tumor! Now Mr. C can focus his strength and energy on Marin Treks, and his lovely family can keep building a wonderful life.
Updates on Marin Treks can be found on the Marin Treks website, where there will be opportunities to support Mr. C and his vision there.
Mr. C is now focusing his energy on Marin Treks and will continue to bring delight and education to our children. To keep up, please visit the Marin Treks website. There are many ways to support Mr. C's vision and mission through Marin Treks.
Here is the very positive update that Mrs. C posted on Facebook: "We have some very good news to share! According to his neurosurgeon, Brian's last scan was improved. The scan no longer shows signs of a brain tumor. We are so pleased and relieved; we're celebrating an early Christmas! Thank you all for your support, prayers, gifts, and kind words. We feel so blessed by all of the emotional support we received and are humbled by all the love given to our family over the past 6 months! God bless you all!"
Tomorrow, Mr. C wraps up the last of the June camps at the Marin Treks Natural History Museum and takes a break next week. His next Dr. appointment is in early July and we hope to learn more about his brain tumor then.
Everyday Brian continues to inspire his students to respect animals, respect the Earth, and to respect one another. His enthusiasm is as contagious as ever, and everyone leaves camp with smiles and new knowledge to share with their families.
Your support means a great deal to Brian and his family, as well as all those who love and cherish them and their wonderful, educational business. Thank you again!
Mr. C is feeling well and is planning a fun summer of Marin Treks half-day camps and all-day Adventure Camps. Head over to the Marin Treks website for dates and itineraries. He looks forward to making some new friends and seeing the Marin Treks "regulars!"
Thanks again for helping Mr. C and his family, and Marin Treks.
To know him is to love him: Mr. C is beloved by our family! He has taught my boys after school enrichment science for many years, hosted our birthday parties, and taken them on outdoor adventure camps for years. He is the most kind-hearted, generous soul you will ever meet. He is an ambassador of teaching children about the outdoors, nature and critters. He is the father of two young girls and his wife is a nurse (you know how awesome nurses are!); he needs our help. Please consider making a donation to help his family through this difficult time -- he is worthy of any small sacrifice you can make (even $10 adds up!). We love you Mr. C and our family is here for you! Sending you healing wishes and strength in the months ahead!
this is fantastic news, we are celebrating with you Mr. C and family!
I met Mr. C in 2007 when he held his first after-school program at my son's school. He brought in snakes and geckos and a level of energy that matched the 6-8 year olds in his group. My son was an eager 7-year old with plans to be a herpetologist, paleontologist, and ichthyologist, and to own a zoo. For the past eight years, my son and daughter have taken classes, attended camps, had Marin Treks birthday parties, volunteered, and now my son's first job is at Marin Treks with Mr. C. Throughout their eight-year relationship, Brian has always been a positive influence for my son. He has always encouraged exploration, research, and by following his own passions, he is showing his students what that looks like, and it gives kids like my son so much hope for a future after these difficult school years. We can never repay Brian and Lina for their support of our son and daughter, so we're here to help Brian and his family keep their dreams and passions alive.
