Tanzania Charity Project

I am travelling to Tanzania at the end of May. This is a charity project in association with Dublin Business School (DBS) and TIVERDS (Tanzania International Volunteering Education Research & Development Support).

TIVERDS aims to facilitate exchange and  volunteering by linking individuals and groups with educational organisations & communities in Tanzania and other countries globally. 

My aim is to fundraise for the following:

1. To develop and support the establishment of a Counselling Support Programme in Njombon.

2. To set up a Counselling Library

3. To fund educational materials including IT equipment

In May 2019 a volunteer trip is organized to Tanzania, 26 students from DBS and 4 lectures including myself. We will work in the University of Njombon, schools and community projects.

Currently there is no counselling or psychotherapeutic supports available in Tanzania to support the community where issue such as addiction, AIDs and domestic violence are prevalent. 

As psychotherapists and lectures we hope to share our knowledge and skills working with university lectures at the University of Njombon, community leaders and students. We are aware and respect the sensitivity that surrounds these issues, and we will work with the communities to understand the culture differences.

I have no doubt that this is the beginning of an educational exchange between Tanzania and the Irish communities that will continue in the years to come.
