Dear All,
I've set up this page with the hope that some people can help me raise funds for my course fees at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. I received the wonderful news that I had been accepted into the school in June but I will have to try and raise some money for my first term fees so that I can enrol on the course on September 10th 2018. Unfortunately, I'm not entitled to any more Student Loans so I am trying to raise funds from my Go Fund Me page, possible sponsorship's and I'm also selling Marvel themed journals on Etsy.
A little bit about me... I've suffered with mental health difficulties for as long as I can remember. I'm now 30 and have several diagnosis' that can make life pretty difficult for me. I've been in and out of therapy and hospital for the last 17 years but it's time to take me life back! My passion has always been the Theatre Arts but I lost my way over time becoming more and more unwell and I had to take up work in a different field so I could support my daughter and I. Eventually, I had to give up work because I became so unwell. The last few years I have spent more time in therapy and learning how to manage my mental health so I can be ready to come back into the world. I believe this is the time to do just that.
This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity - RADA is one of the best drama schools in the world and it's still sinking in that I actually got in! I'm not fully recovered but it's all about trying to move forward and keep the journey going. This is more than just a course; it's my second chance at life and it will help me secure a better future for my daughter and I as the course is likely to lead to full time employment and it would be such a pivotal moment in my recovery.
I will not let my illnesses define or defeat me! It's never, ever too late to start again. Thank you so, so much for taking the time to read this and please believe me when I say that any donation made, however big or small, means the world to me.
If the funds become available for my first term fees via scholarship or sponsorship then all money raised will be given to the charity called the Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in my hometown. This service offers therapy and vital support for victims of sexual abuse. The charity is massively underfunded at the moment as they solely rely on donations so this means that the waiting list is from 9 months to 1 year before you can receive therapy. I know than any funds made will help this charity reach more people who have been through trauma. Thank you!
