Hello, I'm Vincas Greene, director of Vytal Movement Dance . We've been making a big dance impact in the Spokane, WA area and we're taking on our biggest project yet. Vytal Movement Dance presents Tribute, a dance concert honoring Merce Cunningham with guest company Bellingham Repertory Dance (BRD).
We are bringing both sides of the state together in dance, honoring the great choreographer Merce Cunningham's centennial, and kicking off our first year as a nonprofit organization!
We need your help to get this all in place so we can become a permanent part of Spokane's arts community and beyond. This GoFundMe will support costumes and theater expenses for the concert...and hopefully more.
Vytal Movement Dance Company’s 3rd Season concludes with the much-anticipated Tribute on May 9th and 10th at the Bing Crosby Theatre. Tribute showcases both historically based and cutting edge choreographic works rich in collaboration with the Spokane arts community and Washington State dance community at large.
The show will feature two world premieres of Artistic Director Vincas Greene’s most recent dances including “Merce C” with music by Kenneth L. Field and “Percussion” (working title) with music by Sy Hovik. Tribute will also premiere “Ellipses” by the Vytal dancers and feature three dances brought from across the state by Bellingham Repertory Dance with choreography by Shannon Mockli (Eugene, OR), Joshua Beamish (Vancouver BC / New York, NY), and Diane Williams (Bellingham, WA). “Merce C” honors the 100th birthday of international choreographer Merce Cunningham who was born and raised in Washington State. “Percussion” is an exhilarating and physically demanding dance that will have the audience dancing along in their seats while “Ellipses” will take the audience back with its explorations of resilience in everyday lives.
Founded in the summer of 2016, Vytal Movement Dance is a professional concert dance company based in Spokane. The company is directed by Vincas Greene, a graduate of Cheney High School and is comprised of Spokane dancers. The mission of the company is to develop a quality dance presence in the Inland Northwest and to provide professional performance opportunities for talented dancers residing in the region. VMDC presents the art of dance to Engage | Educate | Encourage.
