Medical and Financial Issues

I am a 35 year old woman who is suffering from an illness that is preventing me from working. To get a good understanding of my illness I need to start from the beginning. I got a hysterectomy because I had fibroids. This was over 2 years ago. I did not want to get the hysterectomy because I knew it was major surgery. I went to see 2 different doctors to request a less invasive procedure. I could only see 2 different doctors because the company I worked for had terrible insurance. My company had an insurance company that was accepted on the west coast mainly and the name of the insurance was not well known. Corporate was based on the west coast but I worked in the Chicago office. So my choices for seeing doctors were very limited. I ended up getting the hysterectomy and have had nothing but problems ever since. The doctor that did my hysterectomy assured me that I did not have abdominal adhesions from a previous surgery. I was concerned about getting more adhesions (scars in the stomach from surgery that can cause pain and blockage) because the Doc told me my fibroids were not huge but they were growing and they were definitely causing me pain. At the time I was on Tramadol. As they grew, the pain grew and I had to take more Tramadol. My doctor refused to write more Tramadol. She wanted me to get a procedure done to rid me of the pain. I thought since the fibroids were not that big I had abdominal adhesions from a previous surgery and that coupled with the fibroids was causing the pain. I selected the hysterectomy that is done through your stomach. I could have done it vaginally but I was listening to the doctor stating I did not have abdominal adhesions and doing it through the stomach allowed me to keep more of my organs versus doing it Vaginally. Shortly after getting the hysterectomy I had to be on Linzess because I got more abdominal adhesions and I was still in pain. My body did not take well to the hysterectomy. I had to be on prescription medication Linzess(treats constipation) because I could not go to the bathroom. I would have painful spasms in my butt and vagina on a regular basis. My doctor could not figure out why. She would give me antibiotics and I had to get back on Tramadol. Sometimes the Tramadol was not enough and I would just have to lay down and stop what I was doing. This went on for a little over a year. I got tired of it and I knew she was wrong originally about me not having adhesions and I got more adhesions from the hysterectomy.Doing my own research I saw that adhesion removal would be a good procedure for me and could be the cause of my pain. I now had adhesions in my vaginal area as well as my stomach. I had another doctor tell me that the doctor who did my hysterectomy was wrong in telling me I didn't have adhesions. The doctor told me that was impossible and sometimes depending on the individual it causes problems. I now had better insurance that I was paying for myself through the affordable care act and could see more experienced doctors. I even had a couple of doctors tell me I could have gotten a less invasive procedure, which is what I wanted in the first place. Insurance really matters.

So I decided to get the adhesion removal surgery. Right after the surgery I felt great. I did not need Linzess and did not have pain in my butt or vagina. Unfortunately after a week or two I got this excruciating pain in my pelvic area which caused me to go to the emergency room. They gave me Narcos ( strong pain medication). After seeing a pain specialist I realized I had nerve damage and was placed on Gabapentin ( nerve medication for pain relief). The medication got rid of the pain or at least reduced it significantly but I had and have almost all the side effects of the medication which are :
Drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination, tiredness, problems with memory, not hungry, feeling confused, feeling weak, not able to focus, feeling very tired, low mood, grouchiness, feeling confused, having trouble speaking ,blurred/double vision and tremors . I told my pain doctor and asked if he could write Narcos because I can't work on the Gabapentin medication. He seemed not to care and would not write the prescription. There was a law that was passed which encouraged doctors not to write narcotic pain meds. I even asked another doctor to write the Narcos and got the same response of No. Due to me not being able to work I could not afford to pay for my health insurance which was almost $500 a month and I became homeless. My car also got repossessed. As of now I am staying with a family friend but I still need to be able to pay for things. I still need my medication, vitamins, phone, food etc. I have applied with Social Security but that is not instant and they could deny me. It could take up to a year and if I do get approved it would only be $900 a month because I'm only 35. I need to get a procedure done in order to get off the Gabapentin and rid myself of the nerve pain. I ran out of money before this could happen. I need to get back on my feet and find a way to pay for things I need now. My life has been completely devastated. I think the Dr. made a mistake and knicked my nerve because he never told me that was a possible side effect and nothing I read said that was a possible side effect. I'm seeing now if I can do a malpractice case. That also takes a long time if I win. I don't want to feel like this and want to get back to my vibrant self. This is a very scary time for me and I definitely need some assistance. Also please share on social media-Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
