Water for the Children of Flint, MI

$1,510 of $1,500 goal

Raised by 64 people in 38 months

Recently, we've all heard about the water crisis in Flint, MI but there aren't many publicized aid efforts to help the citizens there.

9,000 children in Flint have been diagnosed with lead poisoning as a result of their government's decision to cut costs by tapping water from the polluted Flint River instead of Lake Huron.

I am not related to anyone in Flint, but as a mother, it is heartbreaking to know that children in our country are becoming ill because they lack access to clean drinking water. I have been in touch with the Flint Community Schools and I will send cases of water to them. In the event that the Flint Community Schools warehouse is full next Friday, they have assured me that if I send them a check, the funds will be used to purchase more water for their students. Today, I am asking your help to do so.

A donation of $4.00 will purchase one case of water for these kids. I would like to order water through Amazon by Friday, January 29th so they can be delivered the first week of February. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and thank you in advance for your contribution.

If you're interested in other ways to help the children of Flint, The Community Foundation of Greater Flint is seeking donations to support public health, medical and community-based services for it's residents.

Thank you,

Yesterday, we drove to Flint to deliver the water you helped to purchase. The Flint Community Schools were not accepting anymore donations so we delivered to Bethlehem Temple and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Flint. Residents approached us seeking water before we could even get it into the buildings! By taking the time to go there, we were able to meet many people and while it is an unacceptable situation, the outpouring of support they've received has truly restored their faith in humanity, (their words, not mine).

Because of you, we were able to deliver:
5,760 bottles of water
130 gallon jugs of water
15 two gallon jugs of water
Countless Wet Ones

Thank you for your donations and helping to spread the word, I am amazed by the response we received! I am so grateful for my neighbors and friends who helped us to load up the truck on Super Bowl Sunday. This was a great example of what we can accomplish when we all come together.

If you are interested in continuing to support residents of Flint, please send baby wipes/Wet Ones to Our Lady of Guadalupe attn: Water Crisis. Many elderly residents are using baby wipes to clean themselves and more are needed.

Thanks again,

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the "Water for the Children of Flint, MI" fund. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and I am completely in awe of how fast we reached my initial goal! Instead of ordering water to be delivered, I have decided to purchase it and deliver to Flint on February 8th. Please continue to spread the word so we can raise as much as possible.
