My Dad's Medical Fund

I don’t know the best way to go about doing this. Do I make this funny or should I be serious? Should I tell you one of the stories from my childhood or even adulthood that shows you just how big a part of my life my Dad has been? The truth is that I have no idea how to put into words who my Dad, Jeff Ernst, is. He is so many different things for so many different people. For me, he is my Dad as well as my friend. He is an amazing Father-in-law to my husband as well as Grandfather to my Daughter. He helped shape me into the person I am today and I can never thank him enough for that.

One thing I can do is ask for your help. Jeff is currently in the hospital and has been there since Sunday, January 7th. He has had some health struggles in recent years due to some issues he has had with his liver. The doctors have been able to get him to where he is today, but now we are at the point where more aggressive treatments must be done. That brings me to why I am asking for your help. My Dad is the sole income for him as well as my mother who doesn’t work due to her own health issues. The surgery that my Dad will be undergoing means putting a stint into his liver which will help drain the excess blood that is backing up in his liver. One of the side effects of this surgery is that his liver will not be able to filter the blood that is drained which can cause excess toxins into his system which can cause confusion, memory loss, etc. This means that he may not be able to work after the surgery so that is why I am asking for your help.

We don’t know what the future holds but we do know that he needs this surgery. Without it the pressure that builds up in his liver can cause severe internal bleeding which can result in him leaving us way too soon. There are so many unknowns in his future right now, but one certainty is that the mounting hospital bills and time off work can be detrimental as well as be an un-needed stress on him while he is trying to recover.

My Dad has helped so many people in his lifetime whether it was work related, taking pictures of your important life moments or even just lending his time please consider helping him now.
